First Atom; Video

[The visage of a man comes onto the screen. He is unfamiliar but fascinated by the technology of the computer terminals. However, that is not the pressing topic at hand. ]

Greetings. My name is Robert Lutece and I arrived here yesterday with my sister Rosalind. She and I are both scientists and will be converting her suite into a laboratory, therefore we have no need for the furniture in her residence. We will be offering it to whoever is interested.

[He sits and waits in front of the computer terminal, looking rather calm with his eyebrows slightly raised. They just sit that way naturally, default expression that gives a general appearance of being constantly unamused.

It's her turn to talk now. Though this would be a little easier if they were reporting from the same terminal.]

Useful. Quite useful. We could become valuable colleagues to each other, I expect.

My brother and I are in Quantum Physics. Pioneers in our field, where we came from.

...Will come from.

...Have come from.

Mm. Tenses are going to take getting used to again.

Excellent! You'll have to tell me how far you've come - everyone here has different levels of technology here. Sadly far below what I'm used to, but I'm sure someone's informed you that we're planning on changing that.

( well that's interesting. )

'Again'? Past seems most appropriate, unless you've been met with others from your world who have been brought here from a different time than yourself.

[Far below what she's used to? Hm. Color Rosalind curious. Still, she has a moment to take pride in her work to a fellow woman scientist, and so she does.]

I discovered a method of suspending an atom indefinitely at a fixed height. From there, I suspended a city. I have also built a window into other worlds, and through extension, crossed into other dimensions and timelines. Among other things.

[Right, past tense.]

I've had a tricky time with tenses for some time now. I'm not used to being at a fixed point in space and time anymore.

How clever! ( the exclamation isn't meant to come off as condescending but as a real appraisal of rosalind's talents from someone who wasn't expecting anything quite like that from an organic individual. shockwave still hasn't managed to completely get over the prejudices of the cybertronian race, but it's a work in progress. and far more forward thinking than most of shockwave's contemporaries. ) It's all theoretical from my standpoint - not that I don't think we'd be capable of it given enough time - but we've simply seen no reason to try to begin with. You'll have to tell me how you accomplished it.

( because what good is knowing people who've done something unique if you can't learn from them? )

Yes, I can see where that would make such a thing difficult.

[Rosalind raises a brow at the exclamation...but she keeps her temper in check for now. It doesn't seem MEANT to be patronizing, regardless how it might have sounded. Particularly depending on where this woman is from.]

There's a great deal to tell. Once I have my notes organized again, we can meet and I can explain. No need to be cagey, I suppose. Not as if I'll have my ideas stolen.

[She smooths a stray lock of ginger hair back.]

Being in the past, present, and future at the same time does muddle it, yes.
