[It's late at night and Alcuin is sitting at his console, wrapped up in a cozy charcoal-coloured dressing gown, a cup of tea resting just in front of him. He looks tired, his hair in a bit of a tangle. He was sleeping, after all.]

[Vanessa's twirling her hair around her finger, a look on her face torn between thoughtful and unsure.] There are a lot of things I miss about home, but I am really missing school. A lot of people think it's boring, but I don't see what's so boring about learning. And doing homework! [She sighs, shoulder slumping.] I like the monotony of homework. Figuring out formulas and writing sentences and reading.

[There's a pause as she presses her lips together, sitting up.] Okay, so I guess the problem is that I'm bored here. And intensely alone, which makes it only a thousand times worse to be bored. I've done a few odd jobs around here, but I'd really like to put myself out there for anyone who's looking to hire someone for... Anything. I'm a really quick learner, I speak, read, and write English, Latin, and Ancient Greek. I know a little bit of Spanish. I can sing; I was in a band back home. [She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear.] I know a little bit about cooking.

[And then she takes a deep breath, lifting up her hand in front of the screen.] I can also do this. [The skin on her hand shimmers for a moment before going opaque and then her hand disappears entirely.] So, you know. I have useful talents.
