 [Kitty has spent most of her day trying to find out as much as possible since getting fished out of the ocean- but at the end of it, the kedan were amazingly unhelpful, there, before depositing her in her 'suite'. It's in a tree! She spent a bit of time exploring it thoroughly, since a part of her, Wolf, was comforted to an extent by this, somewhat more than she would expect, but now that that's over, it's time to get to finding out what exactly is going on.  So, to the console! Research is always helpful, as is poking out on your own...

She hesitates at first, but given the option, she'll always go with audio- she doesn't really feel up to video right now- even though it's been years since she's resolutely avoided the idea of being on camera, and going with something similarly familiar will definitely help.

Her voice sounds nice, relatively calm, and very present- definitely belongs to someone used to working on the audio side of things.]

Are we really on some kind of mystical between-states island sized turtle with a city on its back? [A very short pause of consideration.] I guess that  question marks me as new, doesn't it? Does anyone have any more information than what the kedan say? They weren't really helpful on that topic.

[Mentally, Kitty's ears prick at the reference. English major type response-- at least on her part. Tolstoy.] That often, huh? I'm not sure I'd want the problems that Croesus ended up with, though; I think I already have enough as it is. [Like being stuck on a giant turtle.]

[Well, Lois isn't precisely an English major. But she is a writer.] ...It's a sad day when I think an invasion of ancient Persians isn't that big a deal.

[If that doesn't count as a big deal, Kitty has some sympathy for this lady.] I'd be wondering where the ancient Persians came from. [And then research it. And then organize a crack support team. And hope nothing terrible comes out of it.]

Plenty of possibilities. Magician resurrecting or reaching back into the past, rogue time-travelers, possibly aliens misinformed about what a dangerous invading force would be... I could probably think up a couple more.

I'm not entirely sold on the time-travelers or 'alien invasion' theory, myself. Maybe vampires? [Now that's a scary thought.]

If they're invading Persians? Time-travelers are a lot more likely than vampires. They can't be certain a battle won't last until after dawn.

If it's an invading force of ancient Persian vampires, I'm pretty sure they'd be confident in their ability to finish it before dawn. [Old vampires are super scary vampires.]

Correction, then: if it's an invading force of ancient Persian vampires, modern tech can probably hold them off long enough that the sun kills 'em.

[Pause.]

You sound pretty sure of this. Have a lot of experience with vampires?

[wolfnamedkitty]

You could say that. [Maybe a bit of caution to her voice, since things don't seem to be completely adding up now, with that question. More than being on a giant turtle, at any rate.]

[Lois can tell a suddenly-cautious interviewee when she hears one.] Gotta admit, vampires are not my usual beat. Or anyone's at home. Supervillains, sure, but not Dracula and company.

[She goes silent, almost abruptly--Dracula. Right. That thing.]

I'm pretty sure Dracula's a fictional character. And supervillains? [There's a short pause on Kitty's part- not too long, but still present.] Where's home for you?

[Lightly:] We're on a giant turtle, we have superheroes and supervillains--I'm not discounting the possibility he's real.

Metropolis, if you've heard of it. East coast of the US. You?

If he is real, he'd probably be embarrassed.

I haven't. [Biiit of suspicion there- not much, but just on the edge of being noticeable.] I'm from Denver.

[Well, actually, in my universe he'd be pretty dead.]

Gotcha. Anyone explained the whole 'alternate universes' thing to you yet?

[There's a quiet, thoughtful pause again.] You mean like different worlds? You're the first to bring it up.

Well, I'll be the welcoming committee into the headache that is multiple universes.

There are different kinds. Some of 'em have the same places and people, just... different histories, somehow. And then some of them seem totally unrelated.

[wolfnamedkitty]

[Kitty's already flirted with that headache before, if on a smaller scale.] Which would be why you're from a place I've never heard of, right?

[wherethestoryis]

Pretty much. We've got Denver, though. Second favorite place for skiing. Well, near there. [Sorry, but Superman's wife and army brat. She's been to the Alps.]
