So, who all here is into racing?

[simple, direct, to the point. she's smiling as she says it, though. It's about equal parts mischievous and competitive.]

Oh! And for anyone working on or interested in Mr. Kent's newspaper, I'm going to be writing a section on automotives. If anyone has any information on any of the vehicles or mechanics here, I'd love to talk shop. Thanks.

[She gives the camera a little wave, and disconnects.]

[Tommy watches her carefully, and then bumps his shoulder up against hers again.]

It all worked out all right. He's in prison now. Where he belongs.

[She sounds resolved about it, at least.]

Anyway, I'm sorry-- I didn't drag you all this way to have you listen to my little family drama. You wanted to know something that's better than winning, right?

[He gives a brief nod, glad the subject changes, and swivels behind her to grab another cookie.]

--So it ain't your baking? [He grins.]

Well... actually...

[She slides away from him and to the fridge, which she cracks open.

There may actually be dozens of batches of cookies in neat little bags.]

There was a lot of damage to the housing complexes in the Metal Sector during the riots... I thought maybe it might be nice to do something for the kedan there. It would be too easy for them to hate us, I mean... we've disrupted their entire way of life by being here, so... maybe...

[... she feels really silly right now and just sort of trails off.]

[He leans up and peers into the fridge when she opens it, blinking a little. God she reminds him of Kate. The hair, the attitude, and even the charity work. It's the first time he's really properly missed her.

He pushes off the counter and goes over to get a better look.]

That's a pretty awesome idea. I mean, the kedan are as much to blame for the riots as we are for the damage, but. [he trails off too, glancing at her.] I mean, it would suck if the civilians stopped actually letting us buy stuff and junk.

[winning is still better. and damn, he was expecting sex.]

[She bites her lip.]

Will you help me deliver it?

[helping people is always better than winning, Tommy. Gosh.]

Yeah, of course. I need to stretch my legs anyway.

[Not better than sex.]

[Awwh, that earns him a kiss on the cheek.]

You're sweet. I'm really glad you're okay, Tommy.

[He can't help but smile at that, moving a forward so he's closer to her.]

Sweet? Me? Don't go spreading that, I got a reputation, y'know.

[firm nod!!]

[He smirks.]

Good. Don't want people thinkin' I'm actually a nice guy. [how do you feel about my hands going around your waist because that's where they are going.]

[Asami-- actually has no idea how to react to that, and for a moment she's simply shocked into stillness. It's not a bad kind, not exactly-- but the last person who held her like that was Mako and-- well, it's hard to ignore what happened there. Her brow furrows a little in uncertainty.

She doesn't object to the contact, but she had sort of been working under the assumption that they were just friends. It's possible that she misjudged that-- or Tommy did, but... just in case,]

Tommy?

{he blinks a little at her stillness--which seems to last forever for him--and shifts his hand back down to his side, moving back a bit.]

--Sorry. [God, she reminds him so much of Kate that he's even started... to act like he does around her. He shakes his head a little.] I'm an idiot.

No, you aren't.

[Her mouth tugs down a little in an unhappy frown, but it's not directed at him in the least.]

Are you all right? Was it something I did...?

--What? No. It wasn't you, it's.

[He runs a hand through his hair, biting his lip.]

You remind me of someone. From back home.

Is she...?

[A friend? A girlfriend? Asami wraps her arms around herself, curling her fingers in the fabric just above her hip-bones, where Tommy had touched her.]

[He takes another step back, not wanting to crowd her or anything, and rubs the back of his neck after he's done messing his hair up.]

Sort of? I don't know. It's... complicated.

Hey.

[She opens her arms for a hug and tilts her head slightly. She's getting the sense he could use one right about now.]

[He looks at her with a frown, not really certain if he's in much of a hugging mood. But he doesn't want to make the situation any more awkward than it is by rejecting her, so he takes a hesitant step forward and moves to hug her. It's a pretty awkward hug.]

[Welp, awkward hugs are fine too. Still, her side of it is no less sincere for all that, and then she releases him.]

I'm sorry about your friend. I hope you get to see her again.

[He doesn't mean it to be awkward, but. He's not sure how to treat the situation. He does give her a squeeze at the end, and when he pulls away he nervously swallows, giving her a small smile.]

Yeah. Me too. Sorry... about that.
