[The feed begins without warning, picturing a young blonde boy sitting at his console. He’s slowly—oh so slowly, like the world’s most meticulous woodpecker—typing at the keyboard. One letter at a time. Tap. Tap. Tap. His gaze keeps switching from his hands to his screen, squinting, cocking his eyebrow, leaning in or out to get a better look, with an expression of concentration so intense it’s a wonder he hasn’t set fire to anything yet.]
[It’s obvious he’s never seen a computer, or anything remotely like it, in his life.]
[In the background, another boy is pacing around. Despite looking far more ragged than Armin, he seems to have limitless energy. He’s moving furniture, asking if Armin’s gotten the “lightsbox” working yet, switching light switches on and off, and eventually settling for carrying a lamp around.]
[They're both wearing a peculiar sort of uniform with a winged emblem on the shoulder and back, and for some reason, a very complex harness of belts.]
[Armin keeps on hunting and pecking as he was until he glances up to the monitor again, and notices something different.]
Recording…?
[He looks up out of the corner of his eye as he tries to remember what he was explained that implies. Surprise crosses his face as it returns to him.]
Ah, yes, recording-- Eren! I think I've gotten it to start showing us to everyone else!
[His friend shouts from the background]
Ask who's there! Anyone we know? Who's there?!
I suppose that's as good of a question as any... Is there anyone out there that we would know?
My name is Armin Arlert, of the 104th Trainee's Squad, presently in the Scouting Legion-- although I doubt that holds much weight here. Anyone from our "world" would be familiar with those terms though, so please, if you are, respond. And anyone else for that matter, who isn't a Kedan; what is Keeliai, exactly? Why are we brought here? What is beyond these walls? What could this city possibly be a stronghold against?
[He looks concerned, and leans back in his chair a little. There had to be some sort of threat, if they bothered with security... And he tended to think of such things in bad-as-possible terms.]
[Eren seems very grimly determined to ruin his eyesight as he tries to figure out how electricity works, switching his lamp on and off.]
...This place can't be any good if Mikasa isn't here too. [He mutters bitterly.]
[Armin sighs, because he feels the same way. He stares off blankly.]
We'll find her. It's only a matter of time.
ooc: [Joint post between Armin Arlert and Eren Yaeger. Specify who you want, or not, or both! Expect threadjacking, and lots of it.]

That doesn't mean he won't ask stupid questions. ]
Wh-wh-How is he pressing the lightscreen things? How is he using technology?! [ animals dont technology!??!! ]
video;
quietly intervene]
Don't-- don't freak out? He's sentient and really nice. [He still remembers when you offered to help him learn kedan, Temeraire, sob.]
Not everybody's worlds are the same, and dragons can talk where he's from, apparently? I've also seen turtles that are as big as people around, and today I spoke to a woman with rabbit ears instead of normal ears. The universe-- universes, I guess-- is a pretty big place.
video;
WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?! [ what was that you said? freak out? freak out a lot?? ok. ]
video;
I-I'm Jaime! I was talking to your friend up there, and I was trying to help before you started yelling at everybody!
video;
Where are you?! Where's the dragon?! I know you're not in here-- [ hits the screen with a lamp ] --so where are you?!
video;
[Madre de Dios, Jaime you are no good at this, here, have a nice calm mom type figure firmly shoving him out of the way on the screen.]
Ssh. It's okay.
I'm Bianca. Jaime's mom. Just so you aren't surprised.
We're in another suite elsewhere in the city. The same with the dragon.
The computer console you're at is connected to others, like the one we're at right now over here. [See? She motions at herself and Jaime.] It lets you talk to others without it being face to face.
If you keep hitting the screen with the lamp, you're going to end up breaking both it and the lamp, and that won't do you any good.
video;
Instead of speaking up and making things worse he just... waves pathetically from the corner of the screen, letting his mom take charge.]
video;
Bianca. [ the mom'ing is somewhat effective. ]
None of you are a threat, right? You're in the same situation as Armin and I, right?
video;
No one here is a threat. We were all brought here like you. Even the dragon.
I know it must be a horrible surprise.
Are you alright? Do you need anything?
video;
Prove it! Prove we're in the same situation! All of you have to prove it! Now! Until then, we don't believe you!
video;
We don't look like the kedan, for one. Jaime and I are both human. The dragon also is not from here. [The things she's found herself saying here.]
If you decide to go with immediately denying the possibility that everyone else here is in the same boat as you, it won't help you or anyone else.
We're in EA-1A, which is one of the buildings we foreigners have been assigned to here.
If you like, I can send Jaime over with something for you both to eat; you must be starving and that never helps when you're upset.
[Sorry Jaime, you don't get a say in this.]
video;
[After some wrestling, Armin successfully dumps Eren off his lap and away from the computer screen. He looks absolutely mortified.]
I am so sorry ma'am, please excuse his behavior. He's just... We live in a situation where a state of suspicion is natural, and we currently have no way to gauge the intentions of others-- However, I do believe that you mean us no harm. I [And he looks rather pointedly looks away from the camera.] can't see any reason why you would deceive us at the moment.

[He pauses, ruff flattening back irritably, as Eren interjects. If he had a juulan for every time someone fell out of their chairs when they saw him for the first time, he would be quite rich already, but this is the most aggravated anyone has ever been--and that includes Raleigh Becket. In the face of that, Armin's second comment about his being an animal goes quite unnoticed.]
All right, that is quite enough of that: I can reach the keys as well as you can. [A pause as he wiggles claws the length of a man's finger at the screen, which cannot possibly help matters.] Of course you have a great many questions, which we might all do our best to answer, but it does nobody any good if you do not listen, and persist in shouting at us like this.
video;
Eren please, I'm trying to listen to the dragon-- Yes, I'm sorry, he's just a little surprised. You're such a large creature...
[He can't even tell from this perspective exactly how big, but he has to at least be the size of a 15 class Titan.]
No, I'm not a part of an "Aerial Corps". What's that? People ride dragons?
video;
[Not that the reduction in size is entirely without advantages--chief among them the ability to fit inside his apartment--but it is a matter of principle, as far as he is concerned.]
Yes, that is right: I have a crew all my own, and riflemen, and [a little hurriedly] a captain, although they are none of them here with me, at present. But what are your harnesses for, if they are not used to keep you aboard a dragon?
video;
So you're part of a military unit, then. [Good, they have something in common! Armin feels much more comfortable working in procedure.] I'd like to hear more about that-- ah, but I am too. My belts normally connect to my Three Dimensional Maneuver Gear, but I don't have it on at the present.
video; argh argh argh SO SORRY ABOUT THE WAIT
Three Dimensional... [A pause as he puzzles out the word.] Is it a sort of machine, then?
video; lol don't worry about it
This is the engine here. Normally it attaches to my back like so, and then these plates on my thighs hold my swords and sheathes, where the gas also attaches, which feeds in back here and powers the device. Using these triggers, which also are the hilts for the blades, I control cables that shoot from these ports and anchor in tall objects. Then using this trigger, I can reel the cables back into the device, which then propels me into the air. That's why we call it Three Dimensional, see?
I need all these belts on my harness to mitigate the force of gravity as I fly. If the only point of contact was the area on my back, my spine would probably snap...
video;
He rears back, a little horrified.]
You mean to say you use your gear to fling yourself about like rag-dolls, and the whole thing is powered by explosions, besides? [This is the most worrying substitute for dragons he has come across yet.] But is that not very dangerous?
video;
video;
[And despite Armin's already having said that he has never seen a dragon before, part of Temeraire is still going please don't be dragons please don't be dragons]
video;
They're huge, brainless humanoid creatures-- they can be as tall as 15 meters-- and their only purpose in existing is to eat people...
Do they really not exist in other worlds? It's so hard to believe, they're such a constant presence where I come from.
video;
Temeraire's ruff flares a little in horrified disgust at the thought.]
I have never heard the like before, and you can be sure I would be trying to stop them if I had. But why do they eat people? Would they not settle for cows, perhaps, or sheep?
video;
Titans are only interested in eating people. They don't actually have to eat at all-- Titans don't have digestive organs like we do. So we assume that they consume humans simply for pleasure.
