[As the video cuts on Makoto can be seen in all of her Sailor Jupiter glory, she's leaning forward with her hands planted on the surface that the console is sitting on. To all intents, constructions, and purposes a girl in a green fuku should be adorable, but the expression on her face is filled with pure fury.

In spite of that smile she's presently wearing.

And sparks of electricity are rolling off of her skin.]

This one goes out to our resident thieves...you took something from me, a wristwatch communicator, and I want it back.

[The sharpness in her features softens a little bit, but it's not enough to resemble the typical kindly and openhearted Makoto. She's really cheesed off.]

In the interest of fairness I'll give you a chance to return it exactly where you found it, but if I have to hunt you down it's gonna be a bad day.

Then what's the deal with the static electricity? That constant too?

Nope, that's a transformation skill. I guess it's a little complicated, but as the protector or the tank, there are certain things I have to be able to get access to at all times.

With Mars, her transformation skill revolves around fire. In her normal state she's a powerful medium.

Huh. Weird.

[She leans back in her chair, not sure how to take it.]

Most people I know can't turn things on or off like that. [She'd say it must be nice, but it's not a sentiment she feels.]

I couldn't really tell you why it works that way unfortunately, it might be due to the fact that I was reborn as a human on earth.

Whoa, girl. Back up a second. [Ororo holds up her hand, a visual cue to match her comment.] Reborn?

Oh...yeah, this isn't my first existence, I had a past life that I can remember. [Makoto'll just insert a sheepish laugh here.] Well, it's kind of a long story.

Weird.

[Like almost everything else around here. Ororo leans back in her chair, thinking about it.]

That it? Or does your story have another ace up its sleeve?

Well there's more to it than that if you want a lesson in history.

How long've a history are we talking?

That was thousands of years ago.

That's some history. [Ororo makes a glance at her arm -- a 'checking the time' motion. It's not that she has somewhere to be, so much as a point to make about how long that sounds.]

How about a cliff notes version? Wouldn't want you to waste all the surprises on our first meeting, right? [Said with the hint of a smile.]

Erm...well...in my past life I was part of a people that existed on the moon [she's thoughtfully trying to figure out how she can condense this]...we were from a peaceful and prosperous period called the Silver Millennium. Our princess fell in love with a prince from Earth...but there was a witch who also loved the prince and she was very jealous...[it sounds like a Grimm's fairy tale]...A dark force from the sun...possibly a piece of Chaos from another galaxy...honed in on this witch and her jealousy. This creature called Metallia gave the witch power and after that Metallia's darkness began to spread.

[You got all that so far? Well here's some more.]

With the witch as her medium, Metallia was able to twist the hearts of human beings on Earth against the people of the moon. She made them envy our long lives because we had something called the Illusionary Silver Crystal...the most powerful object in our own galaxy. [You knew there was going to be a magical item in there somewhere, right?] Metallia wanted to destroy the Crystal and the witch wanted to kill our princess so that she could win the love of her prince. We went to war with Metallia, her demonic forces, and all of the people of the Earth.

[A deep breath here.]

I was one of four guardians at the time, we protected the princess, but we lost our lives against Metallia. The princess and Earth's prince were also killed...the only one left to stand up to Metallia, the witch, and all the forces of Earth was our queen. She was able to use the Silver Crystal to seal Metallia, the witch, and all of the evil forces deep inside of the Earth at a place called D-Point. After that she used the power of the Crystal to reincarnate those who had lost their lives, sending us to a distant future on Earth.

[That's the cliff notes version.]

And that's the short version?

[Said with a tone of disbelief. That's pretty complex. No, it's hardcore complex and it's the simple rendition of things. Weird.]

You're, uh. You're really chill about it all. I'd guess you've come to terms with it all?

Yeah...or rather, I can't figure out a way to make it shorter than that.

[And it probably sounds more complex because it's the simple version.]

Well...I've had my entire 14th year....and I got to relive my 14th year...and all of my 15th year...so I guess technically I've had about three years to digest it. [That didn't sound confusing at all.] I'm pretty adaptable, though, and all of my life I've had this sense that something was calling me.

[Oddly, Ororo gets that. Time warping's not common back home, but weird stuff akin to that? Totally is.]

And this sailor duty... you figure that's the thing that was calling you, right?

Yeah...I guess being connected to someone through a past life makes it hard to ignore. I don't think it's something that's so easily washed from your soul and I was just called to a certain place at a certain time.

That's some pretty heavy sentiment you're bearing there. [Bit of sass, bit of serious.] I don't have a clue how it'd feel, but if that's natural to you...? [A shrug.] I'm not gonna call bluff on it.

[A beat.]

And it all links back to that communicator, huh.

It's a funny thing, life. I guess that's just how it works out...sometimes it's luck, sometimes it's fate...

The communicator is one of the few links I have to my loved ones. It's precious.
