[As the video cuts on Makoto can be seen in all of her Sailor Jupiter glory, she's leaning forward with her hands planted on the surface that the console is sitting on. To all intents, constructions, and purposes a girl in a green fuku should be adorable, but the expression on her face is filled with pure fury.

In spite of that smile she's presently wearing.

And sparks of electricity are rolling off of her skin.]

This one goes out to our resident thieves...you took something from me, a wristwatch communicator, and I want it back.

[The sharpness in her features softens a little bit, but it's not enough to resemble the typical kindly and openhearted Makoto. She's really cheesed off.]

In the interest of fairness I'll give you a chance to return it exactly where you found it, but if I have to hunt you down it's gonna be a bad day.

Another option would be to learn about technology in the world where you come from.

Yeah, but you're supposed to have an outrageously optimistic outlook about these things.

That's the problem, technology like that doesn't exist. It's unique...and Ami's always been better at that sort of thing...hey! I have my own strengths too yanno!

[It's not a put-down. Just matter-of-fact statement. Damian really doesn't go anywhere near optimism if he can help it... unless it's embodied in Dick Grayson. And, occasionally, Kyle Rayner. And Stephanie Brown. But those are the exceptions!]

Now that you have said that, after we have gotten it back, I will just have to ask permission from you to study it. Unique technology is always of interest.

Also, you do not need to be defensive about your own incomprehension of it. Not everybody finds it easy or interesting.

You should, optimism is part of a well balanced life.

I do not think 'balanced' was ever the idea, when I was being raised.

And cooking what, precisely, and how do you substitute, here.

Oh? [Piqued your interest has she?] I can cook anything, from Asian cuisine to Western cuisine...I love meatloaf and cherry pie personally! As for substituting...well...that's trial and error. I have been working on some ingredients for my bakery that resemble certain flavors you might find on earth. I can come up with approximations, but nothing that tastes exactly like strawberry, chocolate, or vanilla...for example. Pretty close though.

What do you like to eat?

[Damian's lip curls up from his teeth, but he gets that under control. He is not going to spew out his opinion on postponing death in proximity with his upbringing. Not over the network. And especially not the part where his grandfather tried to extend his own life by, well, living in Damian's body.]

The part of family that raised me had different ideas of how to attain longevity.

And chocolate is doable, you have not been frequenting the right cafes to discover that, obviously. It is ginger and other peculiar tastes like that which just can not be reproduced.

I don't exactly mean attaining longevity...like immortality or something. Okinawa's probably a good example...you know, the little old men who compete for the title of "I'm the oldest grandpa" and flirt with teenage girls or the 80 year old women who can still climb citrus trees. Part of it is their diet, the other part is their surrounding optimism.

[Clearly they are thinking about two different things here.]

Ah, ah, ah. [And this is the part where she'll wave a finger at him.] Never said it wasn't doable, I said I could get approximations. Have you ever tried making bread here? It's an entirely different process, things are a little bit different here including getting flavors to be spot on...so with flavors like chocolate it might not be exactly what you're used to calling chocolate, but the flavor is comparable. It's like the difference between a Hershey's milk chocolate bar and a Cadbry's Flake. Spices are the same, I can come up with approximations like sugar and salt, but it's a big Turtle and I haven't tried everything. I'm experimenting right now and I've managed to recreate very decent tsukimi dumplings, moon cakes, anpan, and taiyaki.
