Something occurred to me during all that rioting. A lot of us are from civilizations that don't really do sword fighting anymore, right? But that and arrows are pretty much all they've got here. If anyone wants to learn how to use a sword--or a knife or a staff or whatever--I can teach you. I come from a civilization that still does a lot of sword fighting.

[That sounds more dry than boastful. Atlanteans are warlike douchebags who enjoy a bit of stabbing each other over disputes, and that's not Nita's scene. She pauses for a second before giving fair warning:]

I should hope those who are able would hold some interest in the art of battle. Given recent strokes of violence, I find myself rather ill at ease with the notion of so many people with so little means of defense, and so few of us capable of protecting them.

I ain't half bad with a staff and I'm pretty sure I could hold my own with a knife, if I had to, but I'm beans at swords.

...Gotta say I still prefer guns, though.

A gun you can just pick up and start shooting. With a sword, you have to practice long enough that you respect it before you're good enough to go killing people.

A gun, you have the advantage over anyone with swords and arrows, but yeah, I'm not disputing with swords you need more practice.

I'd like to learn, if you're up for teaching me. I don't mind working at it, and... I never really learned to fight with any weapons but my shield, which is usually fine with normal humans, but I'm feeling a little... outclassed here. [ Sheepish grin. ]

Oh, I can teach sword and shield if you want. It's kinda complicated for a beginner, but if you already know the shield moves, you should be okay.
