[It takes him a while to figure out the console - a mechanical box of some sort, on the table in his little apartment? What newfangled technology is this now? Seems rather silly to Booker, being able to see people's faces through it. It's not any better than a telephone, and much less mobile.

It takes him a moment to realize the video feed is actually on and he can stop poking and banging at it - he frowns into the camera somewhat suspiciously, then.]

This seems like a nice enough place. I'm not looking for any trouble, but I need to find someone. A girl. Brown hair, blue eyes, a little on the small side. She answers to Elizabeth. It's important I find her.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'll be much obliged. If she's here.

[A brief look - of desperation, vulnerability, fear, even - crosses his face, and then he shakes it off.]

If you see her, tell her Booker's looking for her. [Then he flips off the feed abruptly.]

Look, all I know is some bad people had her, and they were hurting her, and I was trying to get to her when I showed up here. I gotta know she's safe, that's all. [Explaining any more than that would involve trying to explain things he wouldn't know where to begin, frankly. Tears, alternate timelines? Quantum mechanics? He's still working on the 'no balloons' bit and now he's on a turtle!]

Listen, [ Orions holds up his hands in a display that he wasn't trying to be a threat or attempting to aggravate the other man's fraying nerves with his natural suspicion. ] I only want to know for the safety of anyone who go looking for the girl as well as her own. If she's here we'll find her.

[Booker really doesn't like the idea of coppers out looking for Elizabeth. The coppers back in Columbia were looking for her, to bring her back to Comstock, put her back in that cage. And when the last thing her remembers of her is hearing her voice, screaming, in pain, crying out for them to make it stop, because they were hurting her?

Yeah.

But he's also not about to explain that to a bull, no matter how helpful he may seem just now. He may not be a "false shepherd" here, but that doesn't mean no one followed him through whatever tear or breach he ended up in.

Still - this fellow seems reasonable enough, and he's not Comstock's type, either. Never see a black copper in Columbia, that's for sure.]

Anyone finds her should keep their distance, if they can. Drop my name, let her know it's me looking for her. She's not liable to trust strangers, and I don't recommend making her angry.

[ Even if they were separated by a screen and who knows how many sectors apart, the tense static building between them was almost palpable. Orion was not inclined to believe a man offering only a flimsy story and guarded excuses hunting down anyone had their mark's best intentions at heart. ]

I'll make special mention that she's....sensitive. [ There was a pause and Orion visibly curling his lip in disdain as he chewed over whether or not he would even want to point this girl in this man's directions. ] Booker was it?

[Well, 'sensitive' is one way to put it. Another way to put it would be that she could open a tear and bring in a bomb to kill them all or something.

What's even funnier is that if Booker had showed up here even 24 hours earlier, Orion's suspicions would've been completely justified. Now, however, Booker's concern for Elizabeth is exactly what he's making it out to be - he's just worried, and wants to see her safe.]

Booker DeWitt. And you do that. [Actually, he kind of hopes if someone finds her she ends up throwing them through a tear. The fewer coppers around here, the better.]

I'll be sure to. [ Orion replied cooly before it dawned on him he hadn't given his own name. Which he saw no harm in, all things considered. ] Orion Pax.

Pleasure to meet you. [By which he means 'thanks for telling me your name so I can better avoid you in the future'.]

The pleasure is all mine. [ It was a wonder they were able to speak so articulately through clenched teeth, but without anything concrete this distrust was baseless. Still avoidance would be mutually preferable. ]

[ well that would be awkward for the robot in disguise for several reasons. ]

[Booker is not in any kind of position to deal with a strange copper's indignant tone of voice - he's tired, and worried, and if Elizabeth isn't here, he'll need to get very, very drunk.

So he just waves his hand vaguely, and nods.]
