[He's spent a day here already and frankly it's been a day too long. Though in that time, he has managed to find some heavy blankets which he's hung up over the windows to blot out the light. Some is still creeping in but it's enough to keep the place at a comfortable level of darkness. After spending a while watching the network as well and wondering what in the Demonweb Pits the thing is, his eyes are slowly adjusting to the light it gives it. It still hurts though, but it's interesting. Anyway, he's manged to figure out just what he's doing, he refused to let the kedan help him except when it came to them bringing him here. So Dinin is sat with the hood to his piwafwi brought up, managing to shield his eyes from some of the light.]

Kidnapped to the surface world, wonderful.

[He's having a blast, really. His levels of excitement are just so high, can't you feel it all?]

I don't suppose anyone knows of a decent armoury in this Lolth-forsaken place. [He looks disgusted that he even has to ask. But he'd drawn a dagger when he arrived and stabbed one of the kedan in their hand for touching him. Now the blade was dull and ragged from exposure.]

I think you're the first person here who lived underground before arriving in Keeliai.

And I see no reason not to be helpful. Most of us will have to fight, given the Emperor's purpose in summoning us.

Not much point beyond saving our own lives, and preventing the creature we face from entering our worlds and destroying them as well. [Which is all the reason Sabriel needs.] This isn't something we can bargain with.

It's a shapeshifter- none of those things are fixed. It can kill with a thought, and turn the breath in our lungs to acid, and speaking its name summons it, in addition to more subtle powers it apparently possesses. And people are training others as much as we can, given how little we know about the threat.

You weren't here when someone summoned it. [Deadpan, but the incident had rattled Sabriel.] It's confined to the Death plane for now, until someone is stupid enough to say its name again.

It has walked on this plane before- and was defeated, though not killed.[And Sabriel can't quite keep the confidence out of her voice as she thinks about the journal she found with the others.]

Some of us are magic users. We need time to research and prepare a proper binding spell, and having it rampaging around the turtle would be a considerable inconvenience.

Can something be killed if it was never alive in the first place? [Sabriel's tone began to hover somewhere between 'exasperated' and 'lecturing'] It doesn't always have a physical form. Destroying it is a possibility, but we don't have a way yet.
