[Communicating via computers and video is still a relatively new concept to Steve, but most of the time he only needs to be shown how to do something once before he can pick it up and do it on his own. So while he might be sitting a bit too close to the webcam at first, he quickly corrects this by scooting back. Once he is satisfied with his position, he looks straight into the camera.]

My name is Steve Rogers. When I arrived here, they told me I was brought to this world to fight a war, but so far I haven't seen any other soldiers or been given any orders. If we're going up against this enemy, we're all going to have to be on the same page. Where's the nearest military base? I'd like to get in touch with whoever is in command.

[End feed.

No wait just kidding, he can't find the button that turns it off. Steve's brows draw together slightly as he moves the cursor around, clicking on things as he tries to close the camera program. Finally he hits the right one, and the video ends.]

Rogers! [That they went from hammer versus shield (pun intended) to fighting back to back in a war is enough for him to figure out how to respond to a post. Even if it did take about fifteen minutes.]

I know not of any SHIELD bases that are here, but you will not be facing this enemy alone.

[he nods, both in greeting and in acknowledgement. natasha and thor are here? well, at least they'll have something of a team to handle whatever the situation ends up being, war or not.]

I wouldn't have expected anything less of you, Thor. Have you heard anything about the enemy, yet?

[Whatever personal feelings Bruce has on Steve showing up again, whichever one this is-- and those feelings aren't all that complicated or extensive, to be frank-- they're set aside given what he'd just discovered that morning.

He's drawn, not harried or tense but alert and serious. It's not a hard look to believe on Bruce.] Captain Rogers. You could talk to Evandau if you want a military contact-- one of the locals.

But that's... that'll have to wait. We have a current problem.

[Bruce has frankly done the meet and greet enough times by now that he bypasses it, do not pass go and do not collect $200, to get to the part he cares about.]

[Doctor Banner, too? how many of their team are here, he wonders. but he tucks the question away, along with the name Evandau. he can look into that later.

there's actually a laundry list of things he can imagine being problematic right now, so he really doesn't know what to expect when Bruce changes the subject.]

You mean aside from being stranded on the back of an enormous turtle? What is it?

[A young blond woman in what seems to be a bathing suit is squinting into the camera at him. She has strangely arched eyebrows and pointy Spock ears, though she could otherwise pass for human.]

[nope, no recognition here. he nods politely, not even commenting on her wardrobe or the fact that she has elf ears. he's seen stranger.]

We're on the back of a turtle. I reeeeeaally don't think there's a military base here.

[so many people focused on fighting or on this enemy that Ellie didn't even care about. Just for a little while, she'd like to not fight. And they kept bringing it up.

There was a part of her that was more hesitant talking with Steve, though, thanks to his open association with the military. She just wasn't sure what to make of him, given how she'd grown up and all the bullshit she'd went through before even getting out into the world to try and find the Fireflies.]

But I heard there's gangs and stuff here, not the type you're probably looking for though.

There's a city and a palace, and---[he raises both eyebrows]--we're on the back of a turtle. That's not normal, where I come from. Who's to say what oughtta be here.

[Steve shrugs, trying to go for a lighter tone. this girl looks pretty young, so he's not about to drill her with questions concerning the war that may or may not actually be real here. one of his teammates has already answered that particular concern.]

Gangs? No, not exactly, but I could look into that if they're causing trouble.

Captain Rogers. [She gives a brisk, military nod.] I'm Commander Shepard, Earth Systems Alliance. I'm afraid there aren't actually all that many trained soldiers here, and no military bases to speak of. We've got some people working on training and preparing the civilian population for emergencies, gathering information, that's about it.

[oh, wow, that's actually very helpful. he returns the nod and even straightens up a bit, because even if he doesn't recognize Shepherd or her specific rank, he recognizes that he's speaking to someone with military experience.]

Commander. From what I've been told, there isn't much of a war to speak of. Is this true?

....Okay the military base question is a problem. Seriously, dude. You get to an alternate universe on the back of a turtle and you start looking for the military brass?

I was under the impression that was my purpose for being here, son. I'm starting to see it might not be the case, though...

[he's smiling a bit because hey. he gets that reference!]

[Bucky stares at the feed for a good long while before he. Manages to gather himself together enough to answer. And it's audio only - he's not sure he can give Steve a heart attack, but.]

So, out of idle curiosity. When they told you this place is between life, death, and dreaming, how much of that did you dismiss as nonsense noise?

[There is a war. But they'll get to that part.]

[Steve doesn't need to see Bucky's face to have that proverbial heart attack. he'd recognize his voice anywhere. but even so... it can't be. it just has to be someone who sounds disturbingly similar...]

I--Actually I didn't pay much attention to that part. I heard that they needed me to fight.

[There were Steve's who were here before that he never really got the chance to interact with, so T'Challa decided he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice and let the opportunity slip by. Even if this Captain America was different, he was still the Catain.]

These things can be pretty tricky at first. [She paused and tilted her head slightly.]

I don't know if there's anyone really in charge, though. At least not that I've heard of.

[Superman is quick to reply. So quick, in fact, that he actually forgets to actually listen to whatever the man had been saying because he was so glad to see the familiar face again. Steve and Kal might have ended disagreeing about a lot of things... but he still considered one of the finest people he'd known on the turtle

When he does process what he said... well, his smile drops. Slightly, but noticeably.] You don't remember who I am, do you?

I'm Captain Hal Jordan of the US Air Force and I can tell you there's nothing resembling a military here. It's mostly a civilian population aside from people like us.

Which I assume is the reason why we were all brought here in the first place.
