This may have been asked before but, what level of technology does everyone have where they're from? The more I've talked to people the more I've realized that where I'm from is...well, it's really far behind everyone else. Or at least it seems like it.

What sort of technology is normal in your world? Things that aren't powered by magic, that is.

[She is kinda sorta really curious, but anyone who answers had better be prepared to explain it in simple terms because no one has even discovered electricity yet in Ixia or Sitia. Heated baths? A luxury found only in the Commander's castle.

[Annabeth had suspicions that Yelena was from somewhere in the past, on top of being... not from earth. It was little things, mostly, that seemed insignificant alone, but together the conclusion was clearer. This just confirms it.]

There's a lot of technology that isn't powered by magic back home for me. Like the consoles here? We have similar things back home, called computers. So much of my world is run with computers now.

Most technology is computer-run, to be honest. But to start, well -- do you know what a telephone is?

It's a communication device - pretty similar to the consoles in that connectivity aspect, but it's primary function is audio. Each phone has a number that you call from your own phone, and it lets two people talk through it. That's probably the least complicated way to explain it. But it's a machine, not magic.

Gaia has things like the consoles. Radios to hear messages from abroad... phones to talk to people around the world. Cars and motorcycles to get around. Those are vehicles.

It seems common in more worlds than I would have expected that people can travel in space. Have you ever been?

I think I do too.

What kind do they have where you're from?

Normal and possible are... very different matters where I'm from, but when it comes to normal technology most people know about, it's about what most people here have said so far. Computers and cars and cellphones and so on...

What's it like where you come from?

Different, like I said. Nothing like computers or cell phones. People ride horses to get around if they're rich enough to own one, and there are water mills and the castle has a system that pumps hot water to the baths but it's only there.

It's a lot simpler.

But where I come from, there's a country to the south of my territory. They have all kinds of magicians there. I don't think either place is advanced as here, though.
