[ The face that greets console users this morning is offering a polite smile, laced with a touch of sheepishness as though he feels that he is troubling them by asking questions. ]
Everyone I've spoken to so far has been very helpful but I wonder if anyone had time for a few more questions? Has anyone here heard of a game called "Duel Monsters"? Or know of such companies as KaibaCorp, or Industrial Illusions?
Another thing, I've noticed quite a bit of... well, fire around the residence they've assigned me. It's like nothing I've ever seen before, not being hot at all. It's almost as though it's-- ah, it seems silly to say, forgive me. But it's rather like magic in stories, isn't it?
[ He seems embarrassed to bring it up, looking pensively away from the screen but continues after a moment. ]
Though, I suppose given everything that's happened here... perhaps it's not so strange?

video;
Guess I figured the fake fire was some kinda science trickery. Or it could be magic. Not sure there's all that much difference.
Re: video;
Ah, I have a classmate who would strongly object to the two being interchangeable! But then, I suppose Kaiba has never seen... something like this place.
video;
Still, I'd say for most folks the difference ain't much of one.
Re: video;
Yes, that makes sense. It's only that... well, such things. They shouldn't really exist, right?

Re: video;
A... floating city?

[SHRUG. By this point he's just letting all the weirdness wash over him
like a baptism.]Re: video;

Re: video;
[ Internally, Bakura is rolling his eyes. A floating city seemed rather inconvenient to try and make a getaway from, from a thieving point of view. ]
I suppose our homes aren't that similar then.
video;
Probably not. Most I've talked to seem to come from very different places. Or times.
Re: video;
Times? How do you mean?
video;
Re: video;
Goodness... was it very difficult, getting used to this place? A-Ah, if that's not rude of me to ask.
video;
The magic's what gets me.
Re: video;
Ah, my apologies. My name is Ryou Bakura.
video;
Pleasure to meet you. [He mostly says that because it's polite, as opposed to how Elizabeth would probably react to meeting new people.]
Re: video;
You as well, Mr DeWitt!
video;
Re: video;
[ Not causing offense or distress is of utmost importance to his host... might as well establish that early on and begin building the persona. ]
Ah... what language are you speaking, then?
video;
And the kedan are rather patient, on the whole. Unless we are under rationing or you come across some of the underworld.
Re: video;
[ He tries to make a joke but it's really not funny. His host is hardly ever as clever. Then he allows uncertainty to take over his expression. ]
Rationing? No one mentioned anything... a-and what do you mean, underworld??
video;
[ His voice sounds calm, at least, rather than, say, derisive. ]
There was rationing when the turtle on whose back we live was diseased. It has been over for months, now. And, yes, there are several gangs, primarily active in the Metal and Fire sectors. You should be careful.
Re: video;
[ Because his host would be dense enough to mistake that for an actual question. At the second part, he lets himself appear flustered. ]
O-Oh, that's what you meant... I thought, well with everything... an actual underworld. Which suddenly seems less strange, after everything else here.
video;
There are sewers, underneath the city. But, if you mean as in an afterlife, not so much. Even the Death plane is not, as far as we have been able to find, a place where the dead go.
Re: video;
[ Bakura understands them just fine, but you pick up all sorts of things from others' explanations. ]
video;
This far, the only way people can pass to the other planes is through specific portals. We could examine both of them in Sinbrilee; however, only ones accessing the Dreaming plane can be recreated, here.
In Dreaming, reality is shaped by people's subconsciousness, as in actual dreams. There have been no limits discovered, yet, as to what can be created, but that is probably because people have not experimented at length.
The Death plane drains life away. It thrusts you in the situations of your deepest fears, with a level of reality that makes most people forget, nearly completely, that it is not, in fact, real. It is probably much for the better that the access to that plane is shuttered, from Keeliai.
[ Calm, unemotional. No sign how much, if anything, Damian has lived through from that information. ]
Re: video;
That does clarify a few pieces of it, thank you very much. Not that it still doesn't all sound like something from a story but...
video;
[ Halpful? Stay out of trouble? ]

Re: video;
Ah, yes. I've been told that but I confess it's all rather overwhelming to think about.

You get used to it, over time.
no subject
Have you been here very long, then?
no subject
A month, maybe a little longer.
no subject
Would you consider yourself "settled in"? I've been trying to treat it as another school transfer, to be truthful. It's made it a little easier.
no subject
I don't know if settled in is the right word, but I've done some traveling and spent time away before. If I could talk to people back home, it wouldn't matter much.

[ He smiles as though this is all very fascinating and nods at the second part. ]
Yes... it's rather disconcerting not being able to speak to those we know.
no subject
That's the price we pay for being soldiers, I guess.
