[ There's a petite woman looking at the camera slightly unsure, because this is weird. She thought changing the ring tone on her cell phone was too confusing to bother figuring out. Not that she'd actually really tried, and at least she had been given a tutorial on this machine. But she launches right into science and gains surety and excitement as she talks. ]
The, uh, local people said I should post my questions on here. I'm looking for information regarding physical properties of this world. Obviously the gravity is at least highly similar to that on Earth, but [ she holds up a device that's not got a whole lot of activity on the screen ] I need to do some minor calibrations to this in order to properly catch anomalies. And if I can properly study the anomalies then I can probably duplicate them in reverse to get back home.
[ Jane is really excited at this point. She takes a moment to catch herself and calm down with a tiny huff of laughter. She's well aware of how odd her excitement can be to strangers. ]
I'm Jane Foster, by the way. I study gravitational anomalies and wormholes and the like. Is there a university here somewhere? It would be nice to have a place to do research while I'm here.
[ Pause. Is this like a phone call or video question board or something? Are people listening live or what? Jane gives a tiny shrug. ]
Uh, thank you for your help?

There is no University to speak of, although I have been told that the great Library located within the main palace is highly sufficient in terms of research materials.
video
No university? But they have a library in the palace.
[ She scribbles a note of that in a journal. ]
Can you just... go to the library?

[He loves physics. Especially complicated physics. And since what's superscience on some worlds was available to precocious middle schoolers back home, he's not the least bit intimidated by gravitational anomalies and wormholes. Just sounds like fun!]
video
I... maybe? I had an assistant back home, but Darcy was busy throwing rocks a floor or two down, so I think she didn't get pulled in with me.

Even though he turns on the feed, he’s staring at her as if he didn’t. All the conflict he had while staying in Asgard, even his father noticed, had extended to here and now-
Now it’s uncoiling itself within him and he hasn’t even said anything yet.]
Jane. [It’s a faint whisper, as if saying it any louder would cause her to vanish and keep the separating gap between them.]

Which was so untrue, that last bit of hope seemed to be eternal. ...Which was why she had spent years looking for him, thinking about him, crying over him, moping over him, and pretty much everything in between. So there's this moment of disbelief and happiness when she sees him, and then he talks and part of her melts. And part of her remembers just how mad she is at him. It comes out in this mixture of disbelief. ]

Jane! Oh my god. Where are you?
[Pause.]
Also, wow. Did you even give yourself a five second break before your started piling up all the scientific inquiries?
video;
Darcy! You got pulled here too? I didn't think the anomaly was strong enough to pull you in from down there. And yes, I did wait more than five seconds.
[ Really. Who do you think she is? It took five whole seconds to decide which question to ask first. ]
I'm in, uh, ME-3A. Whatever that means.

Elizabeth happens to like science. Specifically physics, even if it irritates her closest friend to no end, but Booker isn't here. He's out doing deliveries, so that leaves Elizabeth on the console, excited about physics.
Jane, you are either going to be Elizabeth's newest best friend, or someone she is terrified of. Good luck.]
Hello- I hope you don't mind me asking- I love science, but, ah.... what are these wormholes, exactly? That you study?
video;
A wormhole is essentially a tunnel through spacetime, so you'd enter it from one point and come out in a different one. Sort of like a shortcut.

Wow, Annie was right, you can talk to people through this thing, huh?
[An absent mutter to himself, not even aware he was broadcasting already.]
Wormholes? You mean those things in the ground?
[You know, holes left by earthworms and all, because Reiner has never heard of any other possible wormhole.]
Video;
Well, theoretically they could be in the ground, but the ones I'm studying are in space.

Dr. Foster. Uh, hi. I'm... Bruce Banner, you've probably heard of me? I'd love to talk wormholes with you.
And I have a gravitometer you can borrow.

Hi! It's really nice to meet you, Dr. Banner. I... have read all of your work. It's absolutely incredible.
And yes, I would love to borrow that. Always good to have another reference point. [ She waves her device around with that comment, since that's pretty much what it does. Only a little more fancy and more focused on fields than points. ]

It's lovely to meet you, my name is Bruce Wayne.

That's too bad. But there's the library at the palace? And, it's nice to meet you too.

Ms. Foster. My name is Bean. I have in my possession a device that is designed for controlling one's personal gravity when in a zero-g environment. Seeing as there are no zero-g environments here, it's rather useless, but... should it interest you, you may take a look at it.
video
It can control personal gravity in zero-g environments? How does that...
[ No, wait, he offered to let her take a look. ]
If you'd be willing to let me, I would love to see that.
[ Way too cool, way too interesting. ]

[ 'And if I can properly study the anomalies then I can probably duplicate them in reverse to get back home.' It touches immediately upon his own speculation, hours spent theorizing and poring over probabilities because there will be no point conducting an experiment (eventually, and he is confident such will be a necessary step forward in order to make some form of progress) if anyone gets hurt, but it ranks as sheer negligence not to try and account for every single variable in the meantime. His Prime counterpart would call Foster's arrival (re-arrival, evidently) lucky; Spock hesitantly skirts around considering it fortuitous. ]
I am Commander Spock, the senior science officer aboard the starship Enterprise. As it is regularly part of my responsibility to observe and analyze planetary geology, you may find our areas of expertise overlap.
[ 76% probability, he calculates. ]
video | vulcryption; private
[ If he knows what she's talking about he'll get the whole part where there's a bit of geology involved with gravity and magnetic fields and the like, but if not then that conversation wasn't going to go very far anyway. But considering he was talking about "astrophysical phenomena" and "subspace anomaly," he probably got it. ]
What have you figured out about the "astrophysical phenomena" so far?

I would be willing to have room set aside for you in our building if you like.
[Science and research? Both are things that should be prioritized. The focus of her questions that she's brought up immediately are more than respectable.]
video;
Thank you for the offer, Jor-El. I haven't figured out what I'm doing in terms of research yet, I have to talk with my assistant some and get settled in. Can I get back to you on that?
