Hello..?
[Have yourself a twelve year old girl testing the water on the shiny new thing and mumbling to herself a little as she does.]
...I hope I'm doing this right.
[Oh right. The people can hear her. Sarah takes a deep breath and gets to talking.]
I uh, gotta say, this is some real crazy stuff going on. I don't even know where to start makin' sense of any of it. The Kedan people, the ones that work here? I think they work here. Live here? I dunno. They explained a lot of stuff but I'm still trying to wrap my head around even being here.
[Sarah pauses. When she speaks again it's with a little less certainty.]
Do they ever make mistakes with who they bring here? I'm not sure I'm the monster fighting type.
[Not real ones anyway.]

[She wonders if his case is the same as hers. Sarah hopes not. Bucky seems nice enough after all.]
That sucks. It's good not to be alone, but if other people are in the same situation, then that's bad for them. I mean, home's home, right? But, I guess here is better than nowhere so...
[Sarah trails off and follows up with a light shrug.]

[ ... he fell off a train. And probably then was revived and brainwashed. Either way, not going back sounds like a damn safe bet. ]
But, yeah, no, not everybody that comes here's like that. My best friend, he's fine. And he's here, so see? You can get people from home that - will just go back, later. I think, the last I heard, was that people could stay here in the end.
[ If they win. ]
video;
That's good to hear. I mean, everyone from home isn't from when I'm from, if that makes sense? Like, they're all from waaaay in the future. So maybe someone from my part of the timeline will come and then... I dunno, go back if they want to.
[A beat.]
If they end up with a choice I mean. I hear people can just disappear.
video;
[ The smile fades a bit. ]
Yeah, they sometimes disappear. Though not necessarily for always, some people've showed up again.
And I hope none of 'em disappear on you, anyway. Do you think that'll be a good thing?
video;
Well... It'll be good if they're going back home, I guess. I mean I'll be sad but. [She shrugs.] They've got a life to live, you know?
[Her voice is quiet, eyes down.]
I think, maybe, if there's no way for me to go back, stayin' here wouldn't be bad.
video;
Then we'll try to make that possible, kiddo. We'll win this war for ya.
[ That... is actually kind of a promise. Whatever it may mean. ]
video;
And I'll... do somethin' to help. Dunno what yet, but something.
video;
But take it from an old soldier [ never mind that he's, like, twenty-five or so, he's been at some sort of war or another for nearly four years ] , knowing, seeing there's something to fight for - somebody like you, who would be an easy target, if we don't do what needs to be done?
It's already doing something to help.
And you'll figure other things out, too, I'm kinda sure. When you know the place and the people better.
video;
Yeah... I know. Just.
[She shrugs.]
I dunno. I'll work it out.
[The kid shoots him a smile.]
Thanks, Bucky. You're awesome.
video;
I know you will. You're welcome, and take care... Sarah, right?
[ It's what she told the girl who talked with her first. He hopes that's not going to make her uncomfortable, that he's seen. ]
video;
[Her smile turns a little more true at the salute and she gives one of her own in return.]
Sorry, yeah. I'm Sarah.
video;
Yes, ma'am!
