( diana is seated at one of the consoles in a café when the video feed begins. it seems she’s already gone a bit native—there’s a kedan-style cloak draped around her shoulders, apparently all she needs to keep warm. still, the glint of gold from her armor is perfectly visible, as is the tiara set amongst her dark curls. she’s making no pretense of who she is, should anyone be able to recognize her.

she lifts a hand in simple greeting, smiling. she’s perfectly calm, though anyone who knows her well can probably sense just a bit of tension in the set of her shoulders, the way her eyes are focused. )

There’s many of you here that I know. And many more that I do not.

My name is Diana, and while I’m newly arrived I believe I’ve gotten most of the basics of the situation. It seems you’ve all been busy, recently.

( there’s nothing mocking about her words, and her smile is genuine and honest. she pauses, for a moment, as though to give her audience a breather. then, she continues— )

I’m sure there’s a lot to be done, and I’m willing to offer my assistance to anyone who should need it. But first, I would like to be better acquainted with all of you. If we’ve met before, I’m sure you’ll come and say hello. And if we haven’t, it’s never too soon for introductions.

( both before and after this broadcast and subsequent conversations, diana will be flying over the same café. in effect, she’s using herself as a beacon. feel free to run into her in person if you’d prefer. )

Not much of a strategy when nothing happens worth fighting about. Some guy killed the Emperor and it wasn't even the big evil enemy they keep warning us about. It was one of us Foreigners. So we're still here sitting on our asses until they point us in a direction. There's nothing to do, so we continue doing nothing.

[Did you miss the part when she said no one was doing anything worth punching for right not?] If we could flush out all the rats, then maybe things would get fun around here.

_{( it's not a terrible plan, diana decides, but it's too close to entrapment for her to be comfortable. preventative measures are one thing; goading people into behaving how you expect them to is another entirely. )}

Oh, I'm sure it would be much better. [Getting things rolling so she could get the hell out of here is definitely her idea of "better."]

Rationing and the turtle dying wasn't as boring as it is now.

Sure you do. [Her getting what she wants means she gets to go back home and blow up the Watchtower, but she doesn't have to know that.]

I'm sure you're little friends will be more than happy to fill you in about all the big scary danger there is here.

You haven't really explained why you dislike us so much, however.

I'm sure I could write a book on all of the reasons, but in summary: I just don't like you.

Serves me just fine so far. Turns out you don't have to bow to the League around here and you get along just fine.

Have enough heroes telling you what you can do and what you can't or how right they are while everyone else is wrong, and I'm not sure there's much of a difference. Guess I'm just a free will kind of girl.

You have the right to live as you wish, as long as that doesn't interfere with others' right to the same.

That's the only thing I will tell you.

[Doesn't that sound familiar considering how many heroes here are so full of themselves they think they can run the damn place. Did a lot of good with keep the Emperor from dying.]

Let's cut it down the middle and stay out of each other's business.

As long as your business doesn't interfere with anyone else's, I can agree to that.

If it does, it's not really your business, is it? It's between them and me. For someone who claims you aren't trying to run the world, you sure are acting like you have the right to get involved with whatever you want.

And for someone who acts like they know everything, you're deliberately missing my point.

No, you're ignoring what I'm saying. If something I do messes with your business, then we have a problem. But if it has nothing to do with you, back those words of yours up and stay out of it. You don't get to decide what is your business.

Keeping others safe is my business. I'm not asking you to understand that, but try and respect it.
