[Midii payed close attention to the Network. Often. She saw the conversation passing publicly between individuals. Noticed the patterns occurring. Such as the recent increase in people disappearing. Possibly being sent home. Coincidently, starting from soon after the Emperor had been killed, except Midii didn't think it was a coincidence.]

[But that wasn't why she came to the Network that day.]

[She had a different question in mind. Something she had been wondering about more and more, with every conversation she carried here:]

What if...somebody doesn't want to go home?

Could they make us? Or would they let us stay?

[Hypothetically speaking, of course.]

[Only it wasn't hypothetical at all.]

You seem unusually confident about that, Sarah.

Is there something you haven't told me yet?

[She scratches her head and shrugs.]

I dunno just... I'm not gonna give up until it's all over. Gotta stay positive.

[Though her cheer fades a little with that.]

This is home for me now. I want to see it be okay.

I think it's home for a lot of us now. Even the ones that it's not...they want it to be okay, too.

And that's why we're gonna win. We've got a whole lot of people who want this to work out.

Wanting it to be okay and making it okay are two different things, Sarah.

Then there's still the part where people keep disappearing. You're not going to be much good in a fight if you're no longer here.

They're going to give it their all though so...

[She trails off.]

I guess. I dunno. People try harder when there's something to fight for. I think that counts for a lot no matter how long they're here for.

[She stopped to ponder Sarah's words for a moment.]

Actually, you're right.

People do try harder when there's something to fight for. It's just a matter of how many people here have that something.

[That gets a grin.]

Yeah I'm right! And well, everyone I've talked to so far has seemed really eager. There's a lot that don't want to go back, or can't.

[Because they're dead. Or will be dead.]

So I'm learning.

People always seemed to be talking about how to get back home. I never realized just how many people wanted to stay.

It's nice here. And... I think a lot of us have things back home that aren't good, or just can't go back for... whatever reason.

Once we get rid of the big bad, then this place will be even better.

I can't wait for that day to come.

[Sarah grins at Midii.]

Hey what would you do to celebrate? Like, no matter how crazy you think it is, if you could do anything at all, what would it be?

...what do you mean?

[Celebrate? Like...a party of some kind?]

Just... Celebrations. Throw a party or set off some firecrackers. Eat a whole tub of chocolate ice cream, dance around the house with the music on real loud.

What's something that makes you happy that ain't usually done. Something you'd save for a special occasion?

[None of the above, that was for sure. Firecrackers sounded too much like bombs. She liked chocolate, but not enough to eat a whole tub. And she definitely didn't dance. Not like that.]

I don't know. Nothing special, I guess.

The things that make me happy...I get to do them here, anyway.
