AUDIO; from a cafe; post-bottle

[Peter's not quite in the right place, mentally, to put up a video post. And he definitely isn't sure he should put it up from his own suite. So he's found his way to the nearest cafe, with an oversized hoodie pulled up over his head, and is starting up only an audio feed.]

Never a boring moment around here, is there? One minute we're normal-ish, celebrating Valentine's Day, and the next we're battling evil miasma inside a magic bottle.

Does anyone ever wonder what happened to the idea of rest and relaxation?

[FILTERED to the Spider-family]

...Sorry. About what happened back there. You-- You guys know that that-- That wasn't me. You know that, right...?

Oh, God... [There's a sigh, and then a beat of silence before he continues.] Anyway, just- I'm sorry.

[ "Yet" being the operative word, there. He lets out a sigh.]

Let's hope it stays that way.

[She knows she's been lucky as a superhero so far.]

Yeah, I hope so too.

[There's another beat of silence, and then-]

I'm guessing you're still in your suite?

Yeah, haven't gone anywhere.

[Wow they're making this awkward.]

[Parkers are good at that.]

I'll- I'll be there in a little while.

[Especially among themselves.]

Okay. See you then.

I'll grab something real quick; if I'm not there, let yourself in.

[There'll be a window open, worst comes to worst.

Once they're disconnected, it's not that hard to do a quick run to one of the nearest takeaway places and then head back with some carryout.]

[He'll be sitting right on that window ledge whenever she gets back; it's just not right for him to enter a girl's room uninvited.]

..That smells good.

[Well, technically he was invited in, but it's not that big a deal.

Hopefully it tastes good, too.

[She opens the door, because she at least needs to go through it, and leaves it open long enough for him to come in that way, if he wants instead of legging it through the bedroom and down the stairs.

[She wasn't in there yet, and therefore it felt... weird to do.]

"Hopefully" being the key word.

[Once the door's open he allows himself to drop to the ground and follow her in that way, shutting it behind before he pushes his hands into the pockets of his hoodie.]

Well I haven't been led astray so far from the list of food places I got. [She's trying to not eat out too much, now that she's got got over the squid eyeball thing. Mostly.

Everything gets set on the table. With any luck they won't forget it until it's gotten cold, but considering everything...]

Look, Peter...

[She trails off, not where to start.]

[Peter follows her in and simply watches as May sets the table. It's such an... ordinary behavior. Setting the table for a meal. He makes no move to help her, though. In fact, he doesn't move much at all until suddenly May's speaking.]

I'm okay. Really, I- I'm fine.

With what happened?

[She's seen Carnage and Venom at work, even before Kithika, and knows the bad habit her dad- and probably this version of Peter has- when it comes to feeling guilty about everything. She gets it too.]

[He keeps his eyes on one of the dishes on the table.] ...Yeah.

[No he's not. It's just going to settle into his gut like a nice fat rock of guilt.]

[She goes up and gently nudges his side.]

I think you're going to have to find someone who's not related to you, if you want them to believe that.

Look, I've seen what the symbiotes can do, first hand, even before I got here. I know it wasn't you.. The thing with the statues in there was really messed up. It's not your fault.

[And then she tries to hug him.]

[The corner of his lip just barely quirks upward.] Oh. Right. Forgot about our genetics being a thing.

[He won't really fight the hug, either. He'll let himself be hugged, though as far as reciprocation goes, he just reaches up to pat her arm. At least he pulled a hand out of his hoodie pocket.]

I'm- Seriously, I'm glad you guys are all so understanding. But I still- The memory of it... It won't go away.

Yeah, I... I know it won't.

And I'm not expecting it to be suddenly better or anything.

[How can she, when she's already dealt with her own guilty issues before? Whatever Peter's dealing with has to be so much more worse.]

But I'm here for you, so you don't have to deal with it on your own. Same with Kaine and Miles.

Really.

[He nods slowly, before letting himself lean into the hug a little. He really does appreciate the gesture.]

Thanks. I just- I think it'll just take some time, or something.

Yeah.

[After a bit:]

Make sure that you hold onto your costume though, okay? I mean, I can understand if you don't want to wear it for awhile or whatever, but yeah.

[She glances at the food.]

It's no ice cream after a late night patrol, but it should still hold up. [A gentle nudge.] What do you think?

[He lets out a small sort of chuckle.] Unfortunately, I've never been good at putting it away.

[At the nudge, Peter glances back over at May before looking to the food again, this time actually really looking at it.]

I think it'll do the trick. So- I guess the ice cream thing, that's a thing you do with your dad?

Once or twice, when he's caught me coming in on the late side.

[Webslinging with a curfew can be hard work.]

Color me surprised you keep going back to your costume.

The call of the suit is strong.

You think anybody around here might even have ice cream? 'Cause seriously, not even gonna lie, I'd love some right now.

I know exactly what you mean about the suit.

And you know, I have no idea. They don't have cows which really limits the options, but they probably have something similar? We can go look after we knock all this out, if you want.
