[Peter's not quite in the right place, mentally, to put up a video post. And he definitely isn't sure he should put it up from his own suite. So he's found his way to the nearest cafe, with an oversized hoodie pulled up over his head, and is starting up only an audio feed.]

Never a boring moment around here, is there? One minute we're normal-ish, celebrating Valentine's Day, and the next we're battling evil miasma inside a magic bottle.

Does anyone ever wonder what happened to the idea of rest and relaxation?

...Sorry. About what happened back there. You-- You guys know that that-- That wasn't me. You know that, right...?

Oh, God... [There's a sigh, and then a beat of silence before he continues.] Anyway, just- I'm sorry.

Dude, whatever it is, you can totally ask. This is share time, after all.

[He's quiet, mulling over whether or not to say something. Finally, barely audibly:] Why? Why don't you hate me?

[Peter blinks at that, momentarily stunned.]

Why...? Because I just- I don't. Kaine, you've stuck with me since I got here. You've been a brother to me. You let me crash in your suite for- for weeks. I don't have any reason to hate you.

[Kaine doesn't seem comforted by those words.] Parker--my Parker--called me brother too. And then he... Nevermind, I'm being stupid. [Talking about his past is one thing. Talking about his emotions is a completely different beast. He worked really damn hard to suppress them.]

[He frowns a little.]

Your Parker, that guy in the alleyway we saw? No offense, but that guy's a tool. He's nothing like the Peter Parker you've been telling me about, so- [Peter shakes his head. He doesn't want to think about how confusing that whole thing was.]

Anyway. That doesn't matter. The point is, I just- I don't think I could ever hate you, okay? I mean it.

[Stares at Louise's badge.] Even May's right, even if it wasn't really him... he's still right.

[Finally looks over at Peter.] I'm a killer, Parker. Killing people's the only thing I ever seem to do right. I kill people. With your face. And that doesn't bother you?

[Peter's gaze drops slightly.] I'd be lying if I said that it completely doesn't. There'll probably always be some little part of me that wishes you hadn't done stuff like that.

But that's all in the past now. And I know you'd never do anything like that again. Pretty sure you'd do your best to eat your arms off before hurting any of us here.

["Never do that again." Heh.] ...Parker, what did you think I was doing with Wolverine in the Assassins Guild headquarters?

That was still before you showed up here.

[Come on, Kaine. Peter just has so much faith in you.]

[Runs his hand over Louise's badge before putting it back on his belt.] You always did believe the best in people.

Only when I trust them. [ With my life. ]

...I don't have that luxury. [Because people he once trusted turning around and trying to kill him was par for the course.]

Well... You trust me, right?

I trusted other you too.

...I don't know why that guy went off on you like that. It doesn't make sense.

But I'm not him. [And that's the first time he's ever been comfortable with acknowledging that. Before he actually saw the guy in Kaine's memory, he'd imagined Other Him being heroic and noble or something. But the man he saw in the alley was none of those things. And if that's the way things were, then he was glad things had turned out the way they had.]
