[ Jack has mostly been flying under the radar during the past month, keeping to himself. Though he's worked regular shifts at the Fishing Shop and at the Welcome Center, when he wasn't there he was often nowhere at all, away from the city. He doesn't intend to address the recent exodus of people from the city, even though he's taken many of them like punches to the gut. Instead he keeps his tone light, and focuses on something that almost never fails to put some lightness back into him. ]

So fun fact: turns out the kedan have something a lot like "Take Your Kids To Work Day" from back home and there's a group that still need some volunteers. Anyone want to help out some kids and let them shadow you for a day?

[ Jack is silent for a moment like he wants to protest that Costigan isn't even in the same ballpark as what the pair ups are supposed to be... but instead he shrugs again, decides it's hardly worth the argument. There are so few left that he has significant connections with, he isn't in a place where he wants to alienate any of them. ]

I'll keep it in mind.

[There's a short pause before Costigan realizes he's doing that thing again where he takes the fun out of Jack's plans.]

Look, I can't have a kid follow me around at work, but it seems like it could be a good thing if we're stuck here for awhile. Good luck, alright?

I understand. Thanks, Billy. We'll draw a picture about our day and you can hang that up instead.

[For once, he doesn't sound completely and utterly sarcastic about the idea. It's still not his style, but Abigail's departure has him off balance and distracted. He even thinks maybe it could be a good idea for the moment.]
