I have made several attempts to alter my speech patterns, but have realized that I still lack a more concise understanding of what precisely entails formal versus familiar speech. Well, well... that's quite a chord I struck, isn't it? Considering I said "know" and not "are capable of" and I'd definitely have recalled using subservient in my remarks.

So someone prior has treated you like that, hm? That can't have felt very nice. It's really offputting to have people assume they know what's on your insides based on what little they know of your outer face. Having been the recipient of that, I'm certain you'd not be so shallow to others.

You are attempting to emotionally compromise me by taking advantage of the ability to argue semantics and twist words around to better elevate your perspective.

I said that you will not emotionally compromise me. Because you are correct. People have spoken to me in such a manner before. They have made the same assumptions you seem pleased to perpetuate. They did not win then, and you will not win now.
