I have made several attempts to alter my speech patterns, but have realized that I still lack a more concise understanding of what precisely entails formal versus familiar speech. Therefore, I am seeking any an all information regarding more colloquial expressions or terms that may be used in everyday conversation, which I will do my best to learn and subsequently employ accordingly.

I guess I could see that. Not everyone wants to talk like they're at a meeting constantly.

The majority of individuals I encountered in my travels has no qualms with formalities, given that we were seldom on a planet for anything other than official Lantern business.

However, I also understand that the situation in Keelai is different. Though I am here to serve a specific function, the duration of my stay does allow for more social interacting with others in my position.

Even now, I find it surprising that there are so many worlds unfamiliar with us. Where I come from, there were few intelligent life forms who did not know of the Green Lanterns.

It is our duty to travel Guardian Space--[And beyond]--to offer our assistance in protecting and aiding those who are otherwise unable to save themselves.

I believe we have been compared, on multiple occasions, to a sort of...Space Police Force.

Far more than I assume you would be able to comprehend at this time.

Those who are seeking to cause harm, or worse, to innocents.

Those who threaten any individual under our protection.

I agree the term can be highly subjective, yes.

However...for example, all those who are currently under the threat of this great being we must name are considered the innocents, and must be protected. That is why we are here.
