[For anyone close to him, or that knows him, they'll have noticed that he was gone. Vanished for a few days with no sign of him at all. But he's back on the network and scratching at his nose.]

So the ride from the palace is better than getting' fished out the sea, that's for sure. I don't get why we even arrived in the ocean to begin with.

[He pauses and looks a little thoughtful as he looks around his suite.] Guess I wasn't gone for that long, huh? I mean, it doesn't feel like it was and it doesn't look like I was going by the network.

Always thought if I left this place and came back it'd be a bigger gap between it. Guess the turtle ain't so bored of me yet.

So what'd I miss? Anythin' interesting?

Fished out of the ocean? That's weird... But I think I would have preferred that to waking up naked and surrounded by strangers! [ because really. that was pretty discomfiting. even to someone who doesn't care about being nude. ]

Yeah for a while we were swimmin' with the fishes. Literally. I'd rather wake up naked surrounded by strangers than be someones goldfish at a faire.

[There's a small laugh.]

I don't know... I like goldfish! Plus less worry about if anything was done to you while you were unconscious in the tub, ne? Like being given a shot of something, or microchipped.

True I guess, but we got people here that can check for things like microchips. They'd have to answer to a whole punch of angry people if they tried it.

[Though they didn't seem to care about the cloning thing, so maybe they'd just turn and walk away if it was brought up.]

Less chance of drowning in the palace as well. And you're gonna get noticed. What if they didn't see you in the ocean? I'm not cool with sharks.

[ anything else he might have said is forgotten at the mention of sharks. a shark is what he and Agito were always compared to - were Agito's favourite animals. if his other half had an animal spirit, it would be a shark. and it makes him have to pause to regain the breath he lost. is this what it's like to lose someone so close? that any unexpected reminder feels like a punch to the heart?

he makes sure to keep his tone even and upbeat. ]

...I love sharks! At home my friends would even call me 'Baby Shark'. They're just misunderstood, ne? They are curious and playful, but humans are just too fragile to handle their curiosity.

[Hayley sounds impatient, bordering on frustration.]

[He knows that voice and he just smiles to himself and rolls his eyes.]

[She doesn't bother replying, expecting that the question will be a sufficient declaration of her intent. While not as fast as what seems to be everyone she knows, Hayley's determined and it doesn't take her too long to arrive at his suite. She's wearing her usual red jacket, but her messenger bag has been left behind.

Then she's knocking at his door, shifting impatiently while she waits for him to answer. Her mind telling her that this is a bad idea and she should bail only serves to fuel her impatience, rocking up onto the balls of her feet and down again.]

[Kon hadn't taken long to get up. He'd expected Hayley to be coming over after he gave her his suite number and got no response. Coffee was brewing on the stove when he heard the knock at the door.

Walking over to the door, he opened it with a smile.]

Hey there.

[Hayley's muscles tense and she hesitates for a split second before moving to close the distance between them, wrapping her arms around his chest in a tight hug. She knows that's what friends do, that it's a gesture of affection and trust and all those other things that she kind of feels but doesn't really want to admit to and doesn't know how to put into words.

This is the part where she should say something about how she missed him or how she's so glad he's back. Instead, she just tightens her grip on him, unconsciously using the physical as a metaphor for the emotional, and presses her face against his shoulder.]
