[A dark-haired kid who seems to be in his late teens appears on screen. He smiles, but it looks a bit forced.]

Hey. Tony Stark. [He gives a small wave.] I just... got here, I guess, and got the rundown on the whole scary death chaos monster situation. And all the giant magic turtle stuff. Sounds like a good time. [He laughs awkwardly, and rubs the back of his neck.] Better than centipede monster void dimensions, at least, [he mutters. This is not the first time he’s been suddenly yanked into a different dimension, evidently.]

Anyway, uh, if anyone needs some tech stuff or heavy lifting done, hit me up. I haven’t had a chance to take a close look at the tech here yet, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. [He seems to brighten a little at the prospect of new alien technology to play with.

He looks like he’s about to cut the feed, but then he hesitates. There’s a couple seconds of anxious silence, and he fidgets, his cheerful demeanor faltering even more.] And, um, just out of curiosity... When they send us back home, there’s... There is something to go back to, isn’t there? [He laughs, but it’s nervous, like he’s not sure he wants to know the answer.] Nobody would really give me a straight answer, but... They’re not going to send us back if we’re just about to... Well, you know, get blown up or something. Right? I mean, that would be pretty messed up.

Yeah, that one. Hi. This place really does pull people out of different times.

And somebody else said Captain America is here too? [Tony is more excited than alarmed, at this point. The presence of Bucky and Captain America isn't any more bizarre than the presence of other Tony Starks.]

Man, Rhodey would kill to meet you guys! He is such a history nerd.

Yeah, he is! He knows an older you kinda better than I do, in case you want to talk about that at some point in the future. But he's Cap, he can avoid that, if you want him to, too.

[ Beat. And, look, he's not bringing up the fact that they knew Tony's dad. For now. Give the kid a bit of time to get used to the place! ]

Who's Rhodey?

Gossiping with Captain America about my alternate universe older self? Are you kidding? How can I pass that up? [That is so going on his to-do list. ~~And he is so going to regret it.~~]

Rhodey's my best friend. I guess he would still be, in other universes. Depending on how different they are. [He hopes so. He can't even imagine his life without Rhodey. Some alternate universes are just too weird.] Maybe Captain America knows another version of him, too, if he knows another version of me.

[ Bucky can't help chuckling a little at that. ]

Then you should go for it.

[ Then, quietly, ]

If Rhodey's your best friend, then - from what I know about these things - that's likely true across most universes with you both. Even if the details happen to be different.

So, yeah, Steve might know your Rhodey, 's very possible.

Hey, maybe you could introduce me. [Oh, yeah, just grabbing a quick lunch with Captain America and Bucky Barnes, talking about superhero stuff, no biggie -- HA HA J/K HOLY SHIT THAT WOULD BE FUCKIN' AWESOME.

It's also good to hear that Rhodey probably exists in all these other universes. He grins.] Well, that's the best news I've heard about the multiverse all day. The other mes can't be totally hopeless if they've still got Rhodey.

Yeah, no trouble. I mean, we're even suite-mates here now, so. Pretty easy.

[ And Bucky can't help but smile at that. ]

's good to have friends like that. So I hope that turns out to be the case.

Definitely. [Tony's expression falls a little as he's reminded that he doesn't have friends like that anymore. Not as long as he's stuck here.]

It'll be weird not having him around. I mean, I'm glad he didn't get pulled into this too, but... He's my best friend. I'm really going to miss him.
