Look, I'll make this short and sweet.

I'm head of the Foreign Division of the Police force here. With Evandau dead and the Commander missing, that makes me effective head of the police in any capacity, though most of the kedan know how to run themselves.

[He runs a hand through his hair.]

Whatever the hell we're facing, it's not- The gangs are getting worse. We have riots every once in awhile and people causing trouble and.. Fuck, you- you've seen it. We need more people. Either you want to help or you don't. It's that simple.

Tazendra was not a stupid woman, no matter how she sometimes acted, and she remembered being a guard in her youth enough to know that those who habitually made trouble for the guard were viewed with suspicion. If they survived repeated encounters; the Phoenix Guard had been more trained for soldiering than police work, so dealing violence to a guard was often met with violence back.]

[And, yet, it could not be said that Tazendra was the sort who ran away from her problems. Even the ones she couldn't solve either by force or magic.]

[Simplest way to keep an annoyed Tazendra from becoming lethal: make sure she can't even get to an eating knife. While she has sorcery, she's not as inclined to use that against a non-mage or someone actually trying to kill her.]
