So Clark Kent is gone.

I, uh, paid some kedan to help me move the radio stuff into my suite? I didn't want it to get taken away. I mean, I'm not really the radio type. So like, I can show someone how it works or whatever, but I don't want to be in charge of it.

[She lifts a hand to wrap around the back of her neck, awkward.] If you didn't know, there's a radio system that people can use to transmit messages. He left a bunch of extras to hand out if people need them, so you can listen. But anyone can come transmit a message if they need to - if it's important, you know? Allegedly It can't hear the radio. The big bad wolf, I mean. I don't know if that's true though.

Before you even ask, no, you can't butcher it for your project. If you want to come study it or whatever, I can.. figure out a time and someone to watch you.

Hey. I think you were friends with the Kents, right? I don't really know how to repair any of this stuff if it breaks.. Maybe you could help? I mean, you're already basically my boss at both Stark and Wayne, so I don't want you to be my boss here too, but I might need help if you're willing to.

[Hayley gives an intentionally dismissive shrug, appearing as though she's trying to tough through the deeper emotions.]

I know. I mean.. thanks. Did you maybe want to help? You could do like, deliveries for people that don't have them or something. Maybe even hand them out at the Welcome Center? But I don't know if that's too obvious.

I do want to help, yeah. But I admit, I'm not leaving the Welcome Center too often these days... just when I have to, because of the lanterns. It's becoming something of a target for the kedan who aren't-- you know, sane.

That's good. That you're protecting it, I mean. Why don't you let me worry about the radio and you worry about the Welcome Center, okay? The Center needs it more than I do.

People mean more than the building does, Hayley. The people is why the building is there-- not just those arriving, but those already here too. If we don't look after each other, it really isn't much good.

I know, Frosty. But they need a safe place.

Maybe you should come help us out then.

A little busy. You know I still work at Wayne and Stark, right? Plus I was working at the radio and now I'm trying to get it working again. But sure, I'll pencil you in when I have free time.

I didn't know you worked at both, I knew you worked at Stark.

[ Even if he has nothing to do with it anymore, Jack feels obligated to at least keep up with things there, in respect to the Tonys who've come and gone. ]

[She shrugs.]

Yeah, I work at both. Mr Wayne started me in an internship in the pharmaceutical department when he was around and I've been working there ever since. I actually started Stark after that, mostly to help out Bruce. Then Clark and Lois wanted help with the radio.. or maybe that was first? I don't really remember. And then magic lessons and cooking lessons.. I like to keep busy. [She flashes him an exaggerated grin.]

That's a pretty impressive skill set, Hayley. Even magic? Wow.

[ There's no trace of sarcasm in his response. ]

The radio is important, though. It's not just a way to communicate with each other, although that's a big part of it. It's something that the people here helped build together, even if Clark and Lois organized it.

[She adopts a skeptical smile. Are you for real.]

Um.. thanks. And I know it is? That's why I'm trying to keep it together.

But if you want to be all gungho save the turtle? The Hydroponics Garden could probably use more volunteers. I think it's just Annabeth, me, and a few kedan, but the kedan have been coming less.

And I was agreeing with you.

Bruce asked me to help there, to help freeze dry what came out. I'm not much of a green thumb but if they stop trying to burn down the Welcome Center around me, I'll head over there.
