[The image flickers on to Kara casually sitting in her chair, arm draped over one side as she pushes herself back, one booted foot coming to rest on the desk in front of her. A lit cigar is between her fingers – they’re finally dry -, and there’s a set of blacked out shades covering her eyes. ]
 
Guess saying ‘Galactica, come in’ is out of the question, huh? [She snorts, and ashes the cigar before putting it to her lips again to take a long drag.]
 
Peachy. [Brows up behind the glasses, and her mouth pulls into a smirk that’s lacking humor.] Sounds like we’re all going to be one big happy family here, doesn’t it? [She sounds SO pleased.]
 
Name’s Kara, call sign Starbuck.  I go by either, so pick your poison. [Ash flick, and she pulls the sunglasses off and tosses them aside, grinning.]
 
Speaking of ‘poison’ – anybody know where the party’s at, or do I have to start my own?

'Rules of behavior'?

[Kara doesn't really like the sound of that.]

Well yes. The rules state how everything is to be run. It's in there that they detail things like the division of the districts, the color of the uniforms or punishments for not wearing them. How a person can request a transfer to a different district, that sort of thing.

[The rules were very strict, and the punishments harsh, but they were also very fair, and a lot of good have come of the Commander's rule.

The Rules of Behavior were why she hadn't been executed, but given a chance to become the Commander's poison taster instead.]

Sounds militant. Does it work?

For the most part. It doesn't allow for exceptions, however. Having good reasons for breaking the rules, for the greater good, and accidental rule breaking are punished just the same as intentional rule breaking.

[The punishment for killing another was death. Even if it was an accident, or even if the person in question was a sadistic torturer and rapist of innocent and trusting girls.]

Good thing it's not like that here. I'd be dead before sunrise.

I'm kind of a screw up. [She grins crookedly, and it's practically audible through the feed.]

Military life for me. Strict, but I tend to do things the way I see it, and I usually get what I want.

I get in plenty of trouble. [Kara prides herself, just a little, on that record.

Except for that almost court marshal thing. Tigh was a jackass.]
