Hey everyone. The Welcome Center is coming along pretty well, and we've got all the structural things put back to rights. I still need to talk to the Metalworkers and ask what it'll take to get a couple consoles put in there.

The people who have arrived since we all got out of the Dreaming seem like they're being dropped all over. If you were one of them, can you reply and let me know where in the city -- or outside of it? -- you showed up? Just in case there's a pattern.

Has anyone had luck getting the kedan to hire them?

You speak of Renly Baratheon? (The casual way he says his name does shock her.) He was of the royal line. Were you good friends with him?

(She cocks her head, looking perplexed.)

How would you do things? (The irony goes far more deeply than she can admit, so she settles on:) I am a daughter of the North even if I was conceived out of wedlock. The mottos of each House are well-known to me. Recently, the Stark house - the House with that particular motto - has suffered great losses.

I never spoke with him in person. I imagined royalty would be proud, yet it's nice to know they can be informal too. (Renly always seemed like the type that would be great company once you got to know him. Not that Alayne ever had that chance.)

Four every year? (She shakes her head in wonder. How do people cope with such chaos?) Westeros has been experiencing Summer since I was a child. I was born in the East - in a city called Braavos - but my father has always lived in the West. I suppose you could say we have a combination of milder weather and harsher. There is a time of storms, flooding, planting and harvesting as you said, but it is all Summer to us.

(Westeros - and even the East - are places of extremes.)

When Winter comes, it does last for years. That's why we must put back what food we can for now.
