[The young man on screen looks to be in his early twenties, with dark hair poking out from underneath an old baseball cap. He's got kind of a nerd chic thing going. Or maybe an "I'm-a-college-kid-and-I-think-"formal"-means-putting-a-blazer-on-over-my-normal-clothes" thing. Either way, he doesn't stay silent for long. He got the whole newbie spiel already, from the welcome center and from a certain familiar face. City on the back of a giant turtle, less-than-friendly locals, weird soul jewelry... it's all pretty hard to swallow, but since his brain has so far refused to wake up and prove that this is all some sort of bizarre dream, he might as well give the consoles a try. Gauge the current level of tech around here, and maybe inquire after some pretty important information that the welcoming committee couldn't help him with.]

Uh... hi! My name is Tadashi Hamada, and I arrived pretty recently. That's probably pretty obvious, though...

[Focus, Tadashi. Stay on track. He smiles awkwardly, reaching up to tug briefly at the brim of his hat before forcing that hand back down and straightening up in his seat a little.]

I was actually wondering if there's anyone else here from San Fransokyo? You see, I'm looking for my brother. His name is Hiro. He's fourteen years old, about five feet tall, messy black hair? Usually wearing shorts and a hoodie? He was with me before, but I haven't seen him at all since I woke up here and I was wondering- [Wondering if something happened to him. Wondering if maybe his baby brother didn't make the jump between worlds with him. Worrying what that could mean and if this is all actually for real and time really does stop in his world...] Well, if anyone spots a kid that matches that description, I'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know.

[Have another smile, friends, thought a bit less awkward than before.] I guess that's all for now.

[The guy onscreen is strikingly albino, but otherwise clearly Japanese. Mid to late teens. Strange black choker around his neck with a box protruding from it and wires going from the box up to somewhere behind his ears. Without a closer scrutiny one might mistake it for a really weirdly designed media player and earphones. He's accessing this from the console in the Midnight Hotel lobby, not that one can see much of it behind him.]

Haven't seen the brat.

[Notable pause, a narrowing of the eyes, then the real reason he decided to respond to this post.]

Where the hell is San Fransokyo?

Yeah, I've met Hiro. Asks a lot of questions, right?

[Huh... Xion might've mentioned about how there was a chance that whoever he was with hadn't come too, but... then again she hasn't heard anything about what happens to people who were with somebody when they arrived.

And in any case, that description is familiar.]

Um... I don't know anybody from.. [What did he say again?] San Fransokyo? But... I think I've seen someone like that.

[There's a long, long time when Krei just stares at the console before actually recording a video response. He never knew Tadashi Hamada, at least outside of that one brief interaction at the student showcase at SFIT, but he does know what happened to the young man shortly thereafter. He knows enough that he's stunned to see that particular face.

Finally he shakes his head and starts the video.]

Mister Hamada.

[He's dressed in clothing more appropriate to Keeliai than his usual immaculate suit, but other than that he doesn't look much different than any of his more recent appearances on television, back in San Fransokyo.]

Hiro is here, yes. Has a room just down the hall from mine in the Midnight Hotel, as a matter of fact.

[It took her just long enough to wordlessly mouth San Fransokyo? for her to remember, oh right, sounds needed to come out if he was supposed to understand her.]

I've seen him.

He's alright. A bit stressed out, I think, but he's not hurt.

[The whole albino thing might seem weird if it weren't for the fact that they're all constantly surrounded by shape-shifting turtle dwellers... Alright, it's still a little weird, but Tadashi's not the sort of person who'll point it out or stare for too long. He doesn't want to be rude. Y'know, like this guy seems to be. :\a]

Thanks anyway... It's on the American west coast. In California?

[You've heard of California, right? Right?]

[He was kinda hoping for an affirmative at some point, but he definitely wasn't expecting one so soon. The shock shows clearly on his face, quickly followed by a wide grin.]

Really?! Is he okay? Do you know where he is now?

[Tadashi's considered the idea that Hiro might not have come with him, and honestly? He's not sure how to feel either way. He doesn't like the idea of being somewhere without Hiro, but he also doesn't want Hiro trapped in some weird world between dimensions with him... It's a tough place to be in.

Either way, Tadashi perks up at the possibility of someone having seen his brother.]

Yeah? He has a gap between his two front teeth if that helps.

[Subtle rudeness is kind of this guy's default state. Luckily he is used to being stared at, so it's nbd if yet another person does it.]

I know California. I've heard of San Francisco, but not that city.

[Geez, small world. Worlds? Whatever. Tadashi doesn't bother trying to hide his surprise when he realizes who he just received a message from. Krei's presence was mentioned while Tadashi was being brought up to speed, but between sorting through the all the issues that come with waking up in a new world and worrying over Hiro...

Sorry, man, you kind of slipped his mind.]

Mister Krei, Professor Callaghan told me you were here... [He smiles, ready to ask about how long Krei's been on the turtle and how he's doing, but the mention of Hiro shuts that down pretty quick.]

Really?! Jeez, he's probably been here the whole time-... Is he okay?

[Sounds are pretty important, man. Use your words.

By this point he's had a few people offer information on Hiro aaaaand he kind of feels like the worst sibling ever for being the last person to realize his brother as here. Mostly, though, he's relieved. He doesn't like the idea of Hiro also being stuck in a strange world atop a flying turtle, but if he's going to be here? At least he's safe.]

That's a relief. You don't know where he is right now, do you?

[Tadashi blinks, head tilting a bit to one side in honest confusion.]

It hasn't been called San Fransciso in more than one hundred years.

[Oh, believe her, pal, you do not want her to use her words during a first encounter.]

Specifically? No. Last I saw him, he was doodling in the dirt out in the cold. I think he was muttering to himself, but I couldn't be sure.

You can always try the Midnight Hotel. That's where a lot of new arrivals are encouraged to stay. Until you get your bearings.

...I don't know about wherever you're from, and I don't claim to be an expert on American history. [He has a good education in most areas, it's just that Japanese education doesn't focus all that much on the West.] But it sure is still called that where I'm from.

I suppose this begs the question of why the name change happened. It sounds like you took that city and Tokyo and smooshed them together.

[Alright, how about she just uses her forward words?

... Doodling in the cold and mumbling to himself. Alright, a little less relieved, because that sounds very not okay. Little brother, what have you been doing?

Tadashi frowns and nods, obviously plotting out a plan of action.] I'll have to go check it out. It hasn't been too long, has it? Since you saw him?

[That can be arranged.]

No, not long at all.

A day or two, at most. On top of that, we're used to new people showing up at random. I guarantee you, he hasn't been completely left alone. Not unless he wanted to be. [And even then, no promises.]

[And he's already met up with Callaghan. Why not. Krei finds himself lifting a hand to rub at his temples at the mention of the man's name. Tadashi wouldn't know anything about the theft of the microbots or the destruction of the new campus, of course, and there's no telling what Callaghan may or may not have already told him. He'll no doubt try to make Alistair out to be the bad guy if he can.

Regardless, the issue at hand is Hiro. Krei shrugs lightly, nods.]

He was fine enough, last I saw him. Working on something. I can't say I appreciated being woken up in the middle of the night with all the noise coming from his room, but yes, he's okay.

[Man, this is weird. It's one thing to be told about things like alternate universes and timey-whimey shenanigans, but it's another to encounter someone who challenges the world you know straight up.]

Actually, that's kind of what happened... After the earthquake in 1906 there was an influx of Japanese immigrants, and they had a huge impact on the rebuilding. Aesthetically, technologically, everything, so the name change was pretty natural.

[Confused slash annoyed look commencing. It really is weird, especially since Accelerator has yet to have any strong line of conversation with anyone about differing worlds. He just assumed people's lack of recognition of Academy City meant they had lived under rocks or weren't from Earth at all.]

What year is it for you, and who was involved in World War III?

He seemed fine when I spoke with him. A little disoriented by his arrival, but I think we all were.

[Gene's a little jealous of the fact that two people from the same world showed up at the same time. He'd been in Keeliai for nearly a year before Tony had showed up, and Tony hadn't been best pleased to see him. Funny how things change.]

I'd check in the Midnight Hotel. I don't think he's found outside lodging yet.

[Everyone gives visual descriptions, man. This is not helpful.]

What, no "where's the tech?" Or "what happens if I don't get home?"

Or even a good, "I'm on a turtle, what?!"

I'm kind of disappointed.

[In spite of the apparent trolling, he might be able to catch the wry smirk in her voice. She's indulging her boredom by playing with newbies, and they can be in the joke if they want.]

[WELP, unless there's a California in space, Accelerator's just going to have to start coming to terms with this alternate dimension BS.]

2034. There hasn't been a third World War.

There was. Russia lost to Academy City. It ended a few months ago for me. Second half of October 2015.

[Alternate dimension BS? Well, as long as he's not the only one who has to come to terms with it.]

Thank goodness... [Disoriented is putting it lightly, but yeah, that's a pretty understandable reaction to waking up on a giant flying turtle.

Honestly, Tadashi's not sure of how happy he really is to find out that Hiro's here. On one hand, it's his baby brother, so of course he loves him and wants him around, but on the other hand, Hiro should be at home. He should be going to school and living a normal life not on a giant flying turtle.]

Midnight Hotel... there's supposed to be an entrance in every sector, isn't there?

[There were definitely some unhappy faces when Krei was mentioned, but since explaining why Krei should be considered a bad guy would require a lot of other unpleasant things be explained, Alistair's reputation remains relatively untarnished save for a general wariness where "accidental" theft is concerned.

Relief is plain on his face, and Tadashi sighs before smiling apologetically.]

Once he gets an idea in his head there's no stopping him. [That's how microbots are made, man. Gotta learn to deal with it.] You don't know the room number, do you?
