[There's a Toph on the screen resting her feet up on the desk, grinning and looking . . . well, smug. Definitely pleased with herself.]

[And . . . older?]

[Must be the light, right? Her bangs seem longer, though. Heavier. Even more prone to falling across her eyes. And her face just has a slightly different weight to it that's hard to explain.]

[Grin is completely the same, though. Some things just don't change.]

Hey, I'm back!

I guess technically I never left, and most of you didn't know I was gone in the first place. [Her grin widens.] Whatever. I feel like I'm back, and that's the point.

If you're wondering [(And yes, she hopes you are.)], basically I did the whole "go home through the Dreaming" thing where you don't really go home, but you get to live out what happens in your world just like you're there. Pretty good stuff. Found out a few things.

Basic rundown:

The war? We kicked butt. Stopped the Fire Lord, saved the world from looming destruction, all of that. I started up a school for metalbending. Started with just a few students, but now it's really taking off. Have to expand the place when I've got the time and the money.

Everything's in a lot better place now, even if it's still pretty much a mess, so can concentrate a lot better on this place. [Can that grin get any wider?] Plus I've got the metalbending to back things up.

[And yes, she'd love to show it off -- how did you guess?]

Hello, my name is Jacob Kane. [ It looks like Cain is in a kedanese shop somewhere. He waves for the camera, makes sure not to jostle the cup he has by his elbow. ] What I'm going to say is specifically meant for the foreigner population of Keeliai, but in the interest of transparency I'm bringing this up on the public network. There's no point in the suggestion at all if we do anything in secret. That said...

We need some sort of system. No, I'm not talking about government or laws or enforcement thereof, but any type of accountability we can agree to. With the current state of things, it's just not feasible for us to keep acting as individuals — whether or not we have anything aside from our status as non-natives in common, we are a group all on our own and I honestly believe we'd all benefit from having something put into place that would keep us from imploding and possibly taking innocents with us in the crossfire.

Now, at this point, all I really ask is that we discuss it. Ideas, suggestions, thoughts and feelings on the matter. Just to collate how we feel as a whole before maybe organizing a meeting in person to go over finer details. Even if you haven't been here long, or don't believe in the idea of a system, I would like to hear why so we can try to address any issues.

If nothing else, we'll all learn something from the exercise, right?

[ Jack's taking some time out of his evening to address something that's drawing rather close. As fun as participating in the Mystery Games has been, he feels like someone should maybe point out the elephant on the turtle. He's seated at one of the consoles in the Welcome Center, the recognizable backdrop visible behind him. ]

Sooo... that super-formal Justicar lady sounded like she means business. Is there like-- I don't know, a plan or something? Has anyone even attempted to let the Chihuelans know that someone's coming? Wait, are we even picking sides in that?

[ He runs a hand through his white hair, causing it to spike and settle. At least he looks better in the face of the oppressive outside heat, and less like he's about to melt. ]

Like I'm not in any way favouring the "immediate execution" thing, but if we're not going to stop this group that's coming, then we should be trying to help the others. Doing nothing seems like we're... almost as bad as they are.

[Audio only is rare for Toph. Usually she doesn't even bother to toggle the settings; it doesn't matter to her whether she's seen or not. But today, right now . . . it's audio only, and her words come out hard and flat.]

Last night I had a dream. About a kid with a woman who was teaching him to earthbend. He pretty much sucked at it.

He was wearing a soul gem.

[There's a pause. For a long moment she says nothing else. But the silence is almost tangible in its thickness.]

He was home. My home.

[There's an undercurrent that runs through the words here, dark and weighted.]

[It's rage.]

We did it!  He's still alive!  I felt--no, better than that, I heard him!

[She sounded tired, but only physically.  Just barely out of breath.  Still, even that couldn't contain the excitement to her tone as she barely waited until the radio had turned on before addressing the network.]

[Allowing a full second for that bombshell to properly sink in, she collected her thoughts and elaborated.]

The spell I was suggesting.  The one to see if there was something magical interfering?  It worked.  We got through, and I heard Asti's voice calling to me, begging for help.  It was faint...like it was coming from far away--no, lots of far aways.  [Wait, no, that didn't make sense, either.]  Like his voice was...I don't know...fractured?

Anyways, that wasn't all.  I also had another Vision.  It wasn't like the last one.  I'm not even sure anybody else but me saw it.  There were stones.  Black and White ones.  They were forming arches at this underwater crossroad...only some of them looked like they were brand new, while others looked close to falling apart.

I think Asti sent it to me.  But I don't know what it could mean.  Second, third, and any other opinions are welcome on this one.

So...I guess things have been pretty crazy lately, huh? [There's an awkward pause. He - was going to say something about that, but now he can't remember and he's not sure he had anything helpful to say anyway.] ...Yeah. Anyway. So, uh, I had a question for the mechanics and the engineers and whoever else tinkers with the local tech around here. At least, what tech there is in this city.

[Not without maybe a tiny little hint of ugh in there, but he's resigned to it, at this point.]

Would it help if there was someplace central you could go to get the parts and tools you need to work with, instead of hunting all over the city markets for them? Like, a one-stop shop for all your tech needs. Something like that.

[He shrugs.]

Lemme know what you think.

[It was that thought that finally helped make up her mind about broadcasting.  An idea that had first come to her weeks ago, and that had yet to wane.  A surefire sign that she was ready to make her mind known publicly.]

I was wondering...

[It had been so long that her first words came out soft and hesitant.  Nervous.  Her thoughts weren't helpful at all to the current predicament(s) at hand.]

There are some of us left who still have a connection to the baby turtles.  [No matter their current size, she would always think of them as the babies.]  I know mine never fully went away.  I can still sense Riva, even faintly.  It makes sense that others can too.

What if...we all tried to reach out to them together?

I mean, I doubt we'd want them to come back if the current rumours are true.  Not after what happened the last time.   But...it would be nice to find out how they're doing.

I just miss her, is all.

[ Milyn isn't often on the network, preferring to interact with people in person, and her presence on the screen today seems small, more so than her petite appearance normally accounts for. Nonetheless, she makes an obvious effort to recapture her normal bubbliness, although it's tempered by the news she must deliver. ]

Hello, dears. I'm afraid I have some unfortunate... well, no, that seems rude, to call them unfortunate, even though they are -- not that it's through any fault of their own, of course! -- but unfortunate... hm, disadvantaged? No, that sounds even worse. Afflicted? No, they're not... well, they are, but that's another issue entirely. Or it may not be a completely unrelated factor, but that's what I'm hoping to determine.

Coincidences, I just doubt those terribly. Coincidences are never good for anyone at all.

[ She looks momentarily stern, like she'll show those coincidences just who's boss, and then she remembers that, oh yes, there's still information she needs to share. ]

What I mean to say is that I have some news you may not want to hear, and I'm very sorry for it, but that's how it goes sometimes.

Yesterday, I had several kedan who came to my clinic with extraordinary tales. Well, most of them had injuries, you know, that's also why they came. I do like hearing extraordinary things as much as the next person, but I'd hardly expect to be someone's first stop for them if they weren't injured. Although that'd be rather flattering, when I think about it? Oh, yes, the others.

They've all been attacked, very similar to the attacks the Foreigners have been experiencing, and I've been so worried about all of you, how am I supposed to help all of you??

[ She takes a deep breath, as though realizing that she's not actually holding a face to face conversation, and attempts to get herself back on track. ]

None of them are too seriously injured -- seven of them, there's seven -- but they've all… well, they've got the same jewels as the Foreigners do. All of them, they woke up and discovered soul gems next to them. I can't tell any difference from the ones these seven have to the ones all of you appeared with when you came back from the Dreaming.

The other thing, and this goes back to the afflicted part, you know, that I was speaking of earlier, the one I'm not sure whether it's a coincidence or not, but it's really just so strange if it's not one, but all seven of them have come down with that nasty little virus that's been going around; we call it zhyris. Anyway, there's been a fair number of cases, especially in the Wood and Water districts, but not all of these folk were attacked in those Secto--

Oh yes, that's right. They were attacked, so I made sure to ask them what they remembered, I wrote it all down.

[ She looks pretty pleased at that, actually. Look at how helpful she can be to all of you. ]

In any case, on the chance that the zhyris does have anything to do with this, and because it is contagious, I've quarantined all seven of them in the Healer's Guild. Raine was a wonderful dear who let me sequester everyone into one of the unused wings at the Guild, and I'll be looking after them until I can determine just how they've been affected. I don't know that it's safe for any Foreigners or other kedan to come in contact with them yet, so please -- I know I'm not Evastelei, I do miss her quite a lot, and I don't know much of anything about magic. But you'll just have to trust me for the moment, I hope you all can do that. Just until I get this all sorted out.

Please?

[The young man on screen looks to be in his early twenties, with dark hair poking out from underneath an old baseball cap. He's got kind of a nerd chic thing going. Or maybe an "I'm-a-college-kid-and-I-think-"formal"-means-putting-a-blazer-on-over-my-normal-clothes" thing. Either way, he doesn't stay silent for long. He got the whole newbie spiel already, from the welcome center and from a certain familiar face. City on the back of a giant turtle, less-than-friendly locals, weird soul jewelry... it's all pretty hard to swallow, but since his brain has so far refused to wake up and prove that this is all some sort of bizarre dream, he might as well give the consoles a try. Gauge the current level of tech around here, and maybe inquire after some pretty important information that the welcoming committee couldn't help him with.]

Usually wearing shorts and a hoodie? He was with me before, but I haven't seen him at all since I woke up here and I was wondering- [Wondering if something happened to him. Wondering if maybe his baby brother didn't make the jump between worlds with him. Worrying what that could mean and if this is all actually for real and time really does stop in his world...] Well, if anyone spots a kid that matches that description, I'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know.

Part of it is because these thoughts are keeping her up of course, whirling around her head until sleep seems impossible. On the other, it means maybe people are less likely to see this. Maybe.]

Is... there anybody you really, really miss?

[There's a moment, and then she laughs a little to herself, though there's no humor in it.]

I guess... that's almost a silly question, huh?

[Deep breath, in and out. Anybody can probably hear the sigh whuffling across the feed.]

Back home, I had my friends. But then I... left. A lot of stuff had happened, and I just needed to think for a while. But... I hadn't meant to stay away, not forever. I was going to go back... but now I don't know if I'll ever see them again. That's what everybody keeps saying, right? That there's no way to go home.

How do we know if they're okay? People we've... left behind? And... Even if they are okay, even if... if they don't notice we're gone...

[She trails off, not quite sure how to articulate her thoughts on the matter. Whatever else though, it's something uncomfortable she doesn't really care to contemplate. And yet it's hard not to.]

Whatever's going on, somebody had better speak up about it now, because I'm wet and I'm cold, and there's some kedan family living in my house, and I want an explanation now so I can smash the source into a pulp several times with a rock and get back to bed.

Okay, so. I'm not sure how much everyone's noticed that there are no sports here, but there basically isn't.
