It seems that not all of Malicant's influence is gone from Tu Vishan. [she takes a deep breath] I spoke with someone who claimed to be one of his worshipers. Now I know that claiming to be one and actually being one are two different things, but I spoke with this person after they attempted to steal a soul gem.

[She presses her fingers to her forehead and closes her eyes, as if trying to warn off a headache]

For those of you who remember the cultists, you know how dangerous they were. [she lowers her hand and opens her eyes, which have returned to their emerald state] This person claimed that 'her people' made a deal with 'someone in this very city'. She also warned that they 'haven't forgotten Malicant' and that we foreigners would 'pay for killing him.' Either the cultists are connected with the muggings, or someone wants us to believe that they are. Either way, someone is using Malicant's name to gather power.

This, paired with other recent events, leads me to believe that it is not the Chihuelans that are responsible for the muggings. Something else is going on here.

If our soul gems are what link us to this existence, and they succeeded in creating soul gems for kedan victims, it's possible someone is trying to make one for Malicant. He was created by the Vilii stone, then destroyed by it.

They could be trying to replicate it by learning about our soul gems.

That certainly explains where all the Dust has been coming from.

I wouldn't be so quick to discount the Chihuelans, though. Even if their activity during the festival was done by someone else using their name, the workers at the radio tower didn't seem confused about who their rescuers were.

If she said they "haven't forgotten Malicant", it makes it sound as if they're worshiping him on recollection.

It might be worth looking into the idea of giving them something a little more concrete.

I wouldn't be so quick to rule out the Chihuelans entirely. Raine said that her attackers spoke in a language that wasn't kedanese, and it didn't translate, like a normal foreign tongue would.

As far as I know, yes, he is dead.

I didn't say that they weren't involved, the fact that two of them were blackmailed into mugging Akito says otherwise. I just do not believe that Celaunn is the mastermind. [A pause] Raine was attacked? [another pause] And are you suggesting that we give them something concrete to worship?

We knew that they didn't all die, so yes, it seems that the Malicant worshiping cult still lives.

Why were they spared?

Some gods can return as long as they have believers. You never let a cult escape.

I'm discounting nothing. Two of them at the very least were involved in a mugging, but it is entirely possible that there is someone else pulling the strings.

That is a disturbing possibility, but Malicant is dead and so far the only gems created have been for people who are alive.

It seems that the kedan in the tower were rescued by Celaunn and her Chihuelan followers. Hardly the actions of a people trying to destroy us.

You are lucky that it is nothing more than a story for you...I lived it, and the horrors Malicant inflicted upon Keeliai are beyond any story.

We were trapped in the Dreaming for a year and by the time we had awoken, well, they were nowhere to be found.

I think it is time I learn the full story of this cult, Valdis.

If the dust contamination during demolition wasn't an accident, which seems more and more likely, I wouldn't be surprised if the kedan behind it is allied with Chelaunn or at least the Chihuelans in general. If they have a common end goal...

The dust from that contamination was older, so it hadn't been created after the war ended but was left behind... Or purposefully saved.

Has anyone found out the Chihuelan thoughts regarding Malicant?

I'm honestly surprised you didn't ask before now. Dante was somewhat obsessed with them.

The only Chihuelan I ever encountered was Celaunn herself, and even then it was only briefly. She seemed quite loyal to Evandau. If that wasn't just a charade, then it is possible that she dislikes Malicant as much as we do.

Keep in mind I was not in my right mind... and as kind as you may think I was in that state. Half the time I was zoning out and ignoring everything.

So yes, I need the story told again.
