Monday 7/27:
Drizzle in the morning, partial cloud cover and mist in the afternoon. Weather remains oppressively muggy into the evening.
Tuesday 7/28
Clear morning, humidity high. Afternoon saw brief showers and continued to be hot and humid.
Wednesday 7/29
Humidity cleared a bit around mid afternoon, though the heat continues.
Thursday 7/30
Clear skies though the wind appears to have picked up – somewhat of a respite from the constant heat that remains high from dawn till dusk.
Friday 7/31
Low humidity and constant heat. Winds appear to be blowing from the east now. Odd.
Saturday 8/1
Temperatures have broke into triple digits and the winds shift direction constantly. Though the breezes are welcome, this is an odd pattern.
Sunday 8/2
Sweltering hot and very dry. I don't think these begonias are going to make it without some aid.
[Video]
Ah, yes. To make this a bit less dry, I've decided to add some gardening tips. So three good ones today.
I thank you, and wish you all a lovely afternoon.
[ooc: You can all thank Shay and Anton for this inane post.]

Ah, yes. To make this a bit less dry, I've decided to add some gardening tips. So three good ones today.
- Grind eggshells into a powder when using them for compost. It makes the calcium much easier for the plants to absorb.
- A great way for starting off a seedling is to put it in a hollowed out citrus peel (such as from an orange or lemon), fill it in with soil and then plant it. The peel will compost nicely, giving the seedling an excellent start. Remember to poke holes in the peel for proper drainage.
- You can grow roses from trimmings. A marvelous way to do this is to stick the trimming into a potato and plant it.
- And a bonus tip for farmers among us, since I noted squash and gourds are major crops. The weather has been hot and dry for the past few days and rain has been infrequent at best. One of the gentlemen at my gardening club uses a method where a pot filled with holes is planted in the center of the garden and filled with water. This makes it easier for the water to reach the deeper roots from squash plants and it isn't wasted by evaporating in the heat.
I thank you, and wish you all a lovely afternoon.

audio only;
Mister Reinherz, is there any particular reason you've decided Keeliai lacked for a weatherman?
[She has her suspicions; her list of possible instigators numbers mostly Dead Men. Despite that she's reasonably sure this is their fault -- what isn't their fault somehow? -- she sounds almost genuinely curious.]
audio only;
Ah yes. Mr Shudder and Mr Cormac both seemed to think it was a good idea. The gardening tips were my own.
Do you think next week I should add trivia and tips for chess and prosfair?
audio;
How thoughtful. I shall have to remember to thank them.
[There's something of a smile in her tone as she goes on.]
Why not? By all means, if you're planning to make of this a regular thing.
audio;
Ah, I don't want people to find these boring, since I'll be doing them weekly. Do you have any suggestions?
audio;
Vary the topic of your tips regularly.
Perhaps include a joke or two, if you're so inclined. Something to break up the... purely informational slant.
[He's going to have a variety show before long if he's not careful.]
audio;
I ...ah... don't know many jokes, I'm afraid.
audio;
Oh? What a pity. A little bit of levity is exactly what everyone could use.
Perhaps you might recruit Mister Cormac. This was partially his idea, after all, was it not?
[You make the bed, you lie in it, Shay. Though China is reasonably sure he'll entertain himself with it anyway.]
audio;
Would you also like to submit jokes that I can read for everyone?
audio;
But I do have it on good authority that Mister Cormac is something of a joker. I'm sure you'll be in... capable hands.

I did not consider using citrus peels in such a way. We used to sell them to confectioners for candying instead.
[On the rare occasions they could afford citrus.]
action;
Ah, I'm quite fond of candied orange peels. Tell me, have you ever tried them in dark chocolate?
action;
[All he has to go on is Larrikin's opinion, and Larrikin has a sweet tooth the length of the Great Wall.]
action;
It's excellent, actually. If the occasion arises, I highly recommend it.
[His tone grows a bit more serious.]
Are you worried as well about the arrival of this Justicar?
action;
[With some vaguely indulgent amusement. Sweets. They were an indulgence Anton very rarely had. But that expression fades at Klaus's question.]
Concerned, yes. People who assume they have a right to authority are very rarely reasonable about objections or being told they're wrong.
action;
You're right. Has anything like this happened before?
action;
[An honest invasion was almost better in some ways than the political entitlement.]
It is the remaining invaders the Grand Justicar now seeks to take into custody ... One of whom is a permanent patron of my establishment.
[Hence the concern.]
action;
[He paced a little.]
After all that bluster, I expect most inhabitants will be as uncooperative as possible, if only out of spite which could lead to a great deal of trouble. What's the status of the past invaders? Are they prisoners? Or are their attempts at integration?

I don't remember signing up for the gardening channel.
...not that I'm complaining, mind you. It definitely beats a lot of our regularly scheduled programs around here.
video
Mr Cormac and Mr Shudder thought it would be a good idea. Have you any suggestions for additional content you'd like to see?
video
[She waved a hand in the air, dismissing the thought entirely. Her smile never once wavered.]
I don't know. What are your areas of expertise?
video
Hmmm... aside from horticulture, I'm well versed in art and music history. I'm decent at chess and Prosfair, and I could give some tips on hand to hand combat and self-defense. Do any of those spark an interest?
video
[Admittedly, when she'd first asked, she hadn't expected quite a selection to choose from. Some of the were even familiar to her. The hand to hand combat and self-defense, in particular, she filed away for a later time. Things like that were better discussed in person. But there was one other topic he brought up that piqued her interest most:]
What parts of Europe?

My dad was from Italy. Born and raised.
I wonder if it's the same where you come from as it was in our world.
