Video | From the place where the god of death dwells
[ A cheerful young man watches the video today. It might be a little harder to tell, video instead of in-person, but his hair is shining silver and eyes a confident gold. ]
So.
Does anyone know how to catch jellyfish?
... Or perhaps what sort of things a giant turtle would like to eat? Just a thought.
[ Blame China. Only don't, he probably would have asked on his own eventually. ]

There is a flaw to your logic.
The ability to persuade or, perhaps, even bribe the great turtle into doing what we wish is predicated upon the false notion that he is still in charge and in full control of her own actions.
Re: video
His smile is a little crooked. ]
So maybe the turtle wouldn't eat it. But you can lean toward things that smell good when not quite awake, right? ... Ah, but fish doesn't usually smell, when it's in water, I think? Hmm...

Re: video
... Not sleeping would be a nice, if he could actually manage it. ]
With yourself, at least. You could probably verify it with friends? Wave their favorite foods near them when they're asleep and see what happens?
[ Please don't take his advice and try this. He throws ink wells at his friends. ]

I will consider the possibility for a future experiment. [With said friends' permission, of course; Aya was curious about carbon-based life form traits and how they differed from her own, but she was also respectful and courteous and nowhere near as naive as some people tended to assume.] Meanwhile, I do recommend you come up with an alternate theory as to how to regain Asti's direct consciousness.

Ahhh.... I suppose I could try finding things that smell a lot like turtle food instead of fishing a lot, to test the idea? If he reacts, I ought to fish? At least until any other ideas come...
[ Sorry, he's going to try the fishing and seaweed gathering thing anyway.... ]
video
Is it possible for one item to smell similar enough to another item that it would fool a large turtle's subconscious?
video
I'm pretty sure there is? I know that plenty of people think mixing two unrelated foods can make something taste like a third? Scent shouldn't be that much different? Because they're tied together, a little.

[She would have to explore this line of inquiry further. A single individual could induce a thought process, which could lead to a solid hypothesis. But she would need a larger sample base to properly draw conclusions.]
In that case...I shall leave you to your experiment at this time.

I can let you know how it works out, but I think it would be pretty clear if it does, and thus also pretty clear if it doesn't.
