[Zatanna appears with a smile on her face and a...rabbit on her head. No, not the same one that seems to have been going around from person to person. This one was actually stuffed. Cute in its own right, but very much nonliving. Still, she didn't want to feel left out in the festivities. Plus, she had her own reasons for donning it. One that, believe it or not, involved neither tophats not magic tricks.]

Funny story.

I checked the calendar, and it looks like national all-you-can-eat day is coming up [Translation: Thanksgiving.] It's a great opportunity for me to flex my amazing cooking skills...but I'm almost starting to run out of ideas. Want to keep things fresh each year, you know?

Anybody here got any favorite recipes that might offer a fun challenge? I'm open. I'll even cook meat.

[She won't eat it, of course, but she'll cook it.]

I might not be much of an expert on siblings...seeing as how I never had any...but I'm pretty sure that's what they're supposed to do. Help you when you need saving.

[ River is so used to everyone being fluent in both languages. ]

[She had about three and a half languages under her belt, but Chinese was not one of them.]

That Simon is like gravity. He makes...

[Her eyes widened ever so slightly. Wow...that's...]

[She'd never had a sibling before. She'd had people who were like siblings to her. Kyle's face momentarily flashed in her mind; those days when she'd stayed with him after the incident that destroyed her first Keelai residence apartment. Late nights waking up, finding him painting in the dark. Finding comfort in warm hugs and long conversations. And she thought of Jack...the look on his face in Dreaming as he'd held that little girl he'd called his sister....]

Must be nice.

[ Her observation gets a tiny smile from River. ]

You'd like him.

[She didn't doubt the possibility. She liked a lot of people.]

What makes you say that?

He doesn't always like things that are... strange. Sometimes he acts like a real boob around them.

It's funny.

[Okay, hearing River call someone a "real boob"? She definitely needed a moment to recover from that.]

Are you calling me strange, then?

[She didn't sound particularly offended at the thought.]

Everyone here is. That's why we came here, because we're different than others. It's what he looked for.

[She thought about it for a second. Then smiled.]

Okay, you have a point there.

But...why was he looking for strange people? Is it that boring where you come from?

Not Simon, Asti. He's the one who looks for strange people.

Simon just needs to think outside his box.

You think he's the one still bringing people here? I thought it was just the leftover spell Eshai had cast at some point.

[ River touches the blue and green soul gem at her throat. ]

Leftovers don't do this.

And we do know Asti's still alive.

Though I guess this is just one more thing to add to the list of evidence.
