[There's a man on the feed. He's looking a bit beaten up, a nice gash on his forehead that's been covered up, but... Yeah. He's smiling. From what you can see of him, he's wearing dark-blue hospital scrubs.

When he speaks, his voice has an English accent. London, if anyone knows enough about it.]

I'm still tryin' to sort this whole "city-on-a-turtle" thing out in my head. It's kinda... a lot to take in. [He laughs.] Must've been a magic grenade. Anyway... Guess I'd better introduce myself. Adrian Fletcher, call me Fletch. I'm a nurse, so... if you need help in a medical capacity, I'm your bloke.

And, well, I can sideline as a mechanic, but you lot don't seem to have many cars around here... and it's kinda been three years since I last 'ad me 'ands on a motor proper.

[He then claps his hands.]

Right. First order of business... I'm gonna need a place to stay. Then... [He looks down.] I'm gonna need to change outta these scrubs. Ain't exactly purpose-built for bein' transported to another world.

And, uh... I know this was probably all covered by the lovely young lady at the visitor's centre, but... I kinda spaced out and just nodded... Sorry, love.

I'm Raine Sage; I run the Healers' Guild here. We deal with both magical and mundane healing methods, and the fog you'll have noticed has a magic-dampening side-effect.

[In other words, mundane is very necessary and she's got a relative shortage.]

Well, uh... I noticed the fog. Not so much the magic bit... I'm kinda short on the ol' 'ocus-pocus. Well, unless you count making a quid appear behind me daughters ear every now and then.

[The man could talk for England, Raine, don't worry about not understanding.]

And, that's it? No checking of my qualifications, or interview? Straight-up offer me a job?

As long as you can accept its existence and function, you'll be fine.

[A beat, and a sigh.]

You offered help in a medical capacity. If you'd like me to assess your relative qualifications, I'll be happy to do so, but you don't strike me as the sort of person who would offer help he's unqualified to give.

[She's made that preliminary judgment on one back-and-forth, true, but he seems practical and hesitant. Not a braggart; not pretentious.]

Further, I'm short-handed. If you have even basic competency with medical procedures, you'll be helpful.

[Okay, well... colour Fletch impressed. There's something about her that reminds him so much of Ms. Campbell...]

Alright. Yeah... Yeah, I'm in. Uh... [He pauses, frowning slightly.] I only know how to deal with... well, humans. These kedan... they're shapeshifters, right?

[Raine nods.]

Broadly, you won't find the physiology significantly different, though there's some difference in the details... That, I can fill you in on, and I have diagrams, as well.

[Not all of the reference texts she would have liked, but... the Hospital happened.]

You'll also find that the majority of the Foreigners are human, or close enough to it, and they are not all the most careful.

Well, I'm not too confident on cannulating for IVs and stuff if I don't know where the blood vessels are.

[He smiles.]

I can give it my best shot, though, and humans I know inside out.

It's happened before that patients are willing to act as teaching aids, as well. When necessary.

In short, I don't foresee a problem with getting you up to speed.

[Then again, she herself is from a world where multiple species coexist.]

That's where the Guild is. I'm here most days.

[He grabs a piece of paper, starting to jot down the directions, before looking up, grinning.]

Thanks. I'll get settled and see you... maybe in a few days?

[Sooner would be better, but this is a lot to take in, especially for people who didn't already have the concept of multiple worlds.]
