[There's a man on the feed. He's looking a bit beaten up, a nice gash on his forehead that's been covered up, but... Yeah. He's smiling. From what you can see of him, he's wearing dark-blue hospital scrubs.

When he speaks, his voice has an English accent. London, if anyone knows enough about it.]

I'm still tryin' to sort this whole "city-on-a-turtle" thing out in my head. It's kinda... a lot to take in. [He laughs.] Must've been a magic grenade. Anyway... Guess I'd better introduce myself. Adrian Fletcher, call me Fletch. I'm a nurse, so... if you need help in a medical capacity, I'm your bloke.

And, well, I can sideline as a mechanic, but you lot don't seem to have many cars around here... and it's kinda been three years since I last 'ad me 'ands on a motor proper.

[He then claps his hands.]

Right. First order of business... I'm gonna need a place to stay. Then... [He looks down.] I'm gonna need to change outta these scrubs. Ain't exactly purpose-built for bein' transported to another world.

And, uh... I know this was probably all covered by the lovely young lady at the visitor's centre, but... I kinda spaced out and just nodded... Sorry, love.

Uh, I was... Right... Fully qualified nurse. Staff nurse in the Emergency Department for two years, and I've been Ward Manager on AAU for another year.

[She gets that look a lot; as such, she was willing to give him the time he needed before answering.]

And in mechanics?

I owned my own shop for a few years. Recession forced me to move on, so... I picked nursing.

[Aya was just going to assume Recession was in reference to an event that occurred on his world, because she did not know what could possibly happen to cause a person to go grown owning a shop to a drastically different career.]

[...granted, she was very capable in both areas as well, but only because she had been programmed with the knowledge before she first came online.]

I see.

There are ample opportunities for you to be able to utilize both those skillsets here. One of the more public locals is a known healer, and there is a large company that specializes in high advanced technologies.

Well, I'll say I'm a better nurse than a mechanic now. Been a bit out of practice.

Then I would recommend seeking employment in that area.

If you are concerned about the latter, then I can reassure you, many of us are experts in the field. Perhaps some of the best from each of our respective universes of origin.

Well, I'll hardly call myself world-class, but at least I have a chain to pass the buck up.

...admittedly, my knowledge of carbon-based life form biology is limited to what had been previously downloaded into my systems by the Guardians...but I do not recall learning any instances in which the use of chains could be beneficial in any medical way.

If you are fully aware there is another individual who could perform better than you at your task, then I do not understand why you wouldn't allow them to take over from the very start.

Things in medicine can change with a snap of the fingers. A patient might be fine and dandy one second, and the next be on the floor, having a seizure, and frothing at the mouth.

[Or seem drunk and end up having a brain bleed...]

There's things I'm not trained to take care of, but the nature of the job is being able to get the help that's needed and preserve life the best you can.

It is the logical thing to do.

You presented your argument in a manner than could be considered both rational as well as demonstrates a sufficient awareness of your own limitations as well as abilities. To continue this debate further would be unnecessary, at best.

I'm always rational. It's the people who're around me who are normally bonkers and insane.

The probability of such a large sample portion of individuals who suffer from these alleged mental illnesses is...highly unlikely.

Sorry, but have you met the human race? Also, I'm in Emergency medicine, that means I see more of the stupid people who've gotten themselves into bother than anything else.

I have met some of them. Not every single human being in existence.
