[There's a strong sound of static on this broadcast. Perhaps it's from all the salt. Still, a voice gets through. It's the voice of a young girl and it sounds skeptical and just a tad put-out.]

...I was told there are people on the other side of this, but I have looked and there was no one there.

If there are people where I cannot see, then I am looking for my friend. His name is Ico.

[There's a pause, filled only by static before she speaks again.]

Yes, it...our dark being was particularly shifty. Quite literally at that. He changed forms among his other talents. [And then there is a pause, a fairly thoughtful one.] Although he IS gone now, do not be surprised if some do not say his name or flinch to see you do so. It...some terrible things occurred in his presence.

Not anymore, no. I think it more of a...for so long, we needed to be so completely cautious about that sort of thing. For some of us, the habit HAS stuck. [There is a little half snort, half laugh at that much.] Silly, isn't it, that fear still manages to have some hold, even when the darkness goes away?

Fear remains, always.

But to feed it, it will grow and devour all things. I have seen this.

Radio:

That is so, sometimes. Or hold us back from the things that are the most important. Perhaps I do not mean fear entirely. I know that I have stopped dreaming of my encounters with him, or fearing the world he would have. There are some memories that surface with the name but they are sad ones, rather than ones that make me quake.

[Which is totally why Enjolras, obviously, unseen, is tugging hard at one of his earrings right now. Sure.[

Perhaps I ought to work at trying it then, no longer giving something that does not exist that power.

You are not weak if sometimes the darkness behind your mind wins.

But you have already overcome it many times. Your will is stronger.
