Should any one of you reading this now claim familiarity with the names Allaidh Darach, Glaschu, or the Cathraon, and all that these names entail, I would speak with you at once. Discretion would be vastly preferred.

[ Gabranth hardly expects to find anyone else from the Drabwurld here — rather, he would have expected them to find him first — but it's worth a shot. Perhaps someone else might have a better idea of just what the hell happened to land him here.

He's markedly less interested in calling out any names from Ivalice, for the sake of anyone who might know him from his deeds in that world alone. ]

Leaving that aside, I would know which methods of earning 'juulan' are most expedient for one newly arrived. Aside from my various skills I have little of worth to sell, and so I would rather avoid that particular route.

Unfortunately I have not heard those names here, though that can mean little. We seem to be getting new arrivals more frequently.

Employment is not too difficult to find. If I may, what manner of skills do you possess?

Warfare and diplomacy, to be brief. [ To be blunt, really. ] In my homeworld I held commanding rank over much of my nation's military and oversaw their primary intelligence division.

[ It wouldn't be inaccurate to say that he wielded similar authority and responsibilities in the Drabwurld, but he's still new to this place, and there's no telling how the locals might respond to a title like High Inquisitor. ]

I am also a skilled warrior in individual combat.

Keeliai could do with more of a diplomatic mindset, though the political structure is rather loose. There are four major families who hold most of the power - perhaps look to them should you wish to continue on that front.

For your martial prowess, the Jigaiz matches in Hatal are sponsoring foreigner combatants and there are prizes, if that holds appeal.

And there are plenty of businesses hiring right now if you wish to ply a more traditional trade.

Needless to say, there are a number of opportunities.

Now, if I may, are you alright? Arriving in another world is, at the very least, a jarring experience.

I've been told I may find lodgings through the Welcome Center for the time being. I expect it shall remain this way until I find a source of reliable income.

That's correct. The place considered most hospitable to foreigners is the Midnight Hotel, though there may be others as well.

I'll be certain to look into it. [ Finding a place to stay wouldn't be a bad place to start his investigations into this world, after all. ]

[ Gabranth has a passing familiarity with capital-e Earth — with the knowledge that it exists as another world somewhere, at least. But the addition of "That-Was" makes him wonder... ]

That might have been useful to know were I still in Allaidh Darach.

[ He suspects that if this person had been there as well, she would have mentioned it instead of another world entirely. ]

What do the other things mean?

Allaidh Darach, as I was once told, means something akin to "wild oak." If the Cathraon holds any meaning beyond the name of a great battlefield, it is yet unknown to me.

It's a bad name. Why are they important to you?

Allaidh Darach was the name of the world in which I had been trapped for the past two years, and Glaschu and the Cathraon the names of places within it. If aught among those who shared my fate have somehow also found themselves in this world, I would seek them out at once.

Konryu, Tu Vishan, Keeliai. Different places, but still a trap. Sometimes cages don't look like cages. Did you get lost?

I am primarily skilled in battle, both in a commanding role and as a combatant. I am also well-acquainted with subterfuge and the gathering of intelligence.

[Huh. Admittedly, she should have at least partially expected something like that. There were several other fighters in the city, and the latter was something that hit a little too close to home to be all that surprised by.]

[Still. Most people, when asked that question, would answer with various trade skills. Like that one guy who was a nurse, and the other guy who was a baker.]

There's a dojo. I don't know who runs it currently, but I do know there are several people who work there as instructors.

If you're that interested in fighting, it might be something more suited to your abilities.
