Mr. Holmes isn't here any more.
[Conan pauses for a moment, as if he was about to say something else. But really, nothing else needed to be said. Anyone who cared enough to know about Sherlock's whereabouts were smart enough to draw their own conclusions from that.
But on to his other business. Sherlock's disappearance had once again left Conan in the position of being an eight-year-old with no caretaker. Even here he couldn't hold an apartment by himself. Which left him with very few options.]
Is anyone looking for a roommate? I have an apartment, but I don't think I'll be allowed to stay here by myself.

How old are you?
Video
I just turned eight in May. Why?

Curiosity.
[ He knows where the apartment is, from tailing Sherlock for a while. So he doesn't ask. ]
If you still need a roommate, I need to get out of the shelter.

[Midii no longer allowed herself to feel sad whenever she heard of an acquaintances' departure, although she was feeling a touch more annoyed than usual. This was her--what--third teacher who'd left? Fourth? If she were the kind of person to believe in such a thing, she might have considered herself a jinx.]
I'm sorry. I know you two were pretty close.

No offense, Conan.]Sometimes, I wonder if the people who come and go aren't as random as they seem.
...of course, I've never been able to find any evidence to suggest otherwise. But it's a thought that comes to mind every now and again.
Re: video
[He can't be offended at that. If he had to count up all the times someone had accused him of being cursed... ]

[She trailed off, pressing her lips together in thought. It wasn't the first time this subject came up, so she knew how to answer his question. Just not how precisely to phrase it.]
I think...based on my experience...it has something to do with the people who are already here. The people who are chosen next. Maybe not so much that they come from the same world--nobody from mine's ever showed up, as far as I know--but...also as far as I know, we've always managed to make some kinds of connection with others.

[ Guess who's forgot that Conan can't see or hear him? And thus will see a seemingly empty room on the video feed. ]

Re: video;
Oh come on, you're not even ten years old yet!

[It was strange that the connection would last so long with no one on the other side. ]

Yes someone's here. I asked if you were okay.
Seriously? You're a kid on a magic continent turtle and you are a belief holdout?
text;
What does belief have to do with anything?

Sorry if I'm not exactly weeping and tearing my hair out for the guy.
Re: video;
He's gone now either way.
video;
Yeah, well. Let me know if you need somewhere to sleep, okay? I can probably keep you around for a day or two. [Any longer than that might be dangerous for the kid. Besides, Miles is awkward around kids for too long. Oh God, youths!]
