[Conan pauses for a moment, as if he was about to say something else. But really, nothing else needed to be said. Anyone who cared enough to know about Sherlock's whereabouts were smart enough to draw their own conclusions from that.

But on to his other business. Sherlock's disappearance had once again left Conan in the position of being an eight-year-old with no caretaker. Even here he couldn't hold an apartment by himself. Which left him with very few options.]

Is anyone looking for a roommate? I have an apartment, but I don't think I'll be allowed to stay here by myself.

[ Bucky nods. He's not sure that it's a good idea to have him staying with a kid, but he does need to get out of the shelter. ]

You're Conan?

That's right. Come on in. I already cleaned out the other bedroom.

[protivvyter]

[ Bucky steps in, warily. He looks around the apartment, wondering who would accidentally abandon a child here. He also wonders how a child ended up here of all places.

His eyes pick out prime hiding spots for weapons, where they won't be found by Conan. He'll hide them later. Probably some night when he can't sleep. ]

Is there roof access?

[ Otherwise, he's going to be doing a lot of climbing, something that would be better with two arms. ]

If you really made an effort through the windows, I guess.

[Conan watches Bucky closely, taking note of where he looks in the apartment. ]

[ That will make things difficult for him. But, he's been through worse. ]

It'll do. Bedroom this way?

[ Bucky is not the most comforting of people. ]

That's right. At the end of the hallway.

[ Bucky heads for the bedroom, but stops at the door and doesn't look at the kid. ]

[ It's very awkward and obvious that he doesn't say it very often. ]

You're doing me a favor, really. I wouldn't have been able to stay here alone.

[ Bucky frowns. ]

You're the only child among the Foreigners?

[spoilsfun]

Not the only one. But I think I'm the youngest by several years. I don't know anyone else younger than a teenager.

[protivvyter]

[ That has to suck. Bucky doesn't really remember his childhood? But he thinks he knows what it's like to be alone. ]

Well, you have me now. It'll all be fine.

If you say so. It doesn't really bother me that much.

[He'd spent his first childhood alone apart from Ran, and he'd ended up perfectly fine.]

Except for the part where you're forced to live with an adult?

[ Bucky puts his hand on Conan's shoulder. ]

Just don't come into my room without invitation.

It wouldn't be as bad if the people I stay with would stick around longer. At least no one had made me go to the kedan school yet.

[He nods.]

Mmm, I can do that.

Well, you stay out of trouble, and I'll try to stick around.

[ It's the most he can promise. ]
