[ It's been disgustingly hot the past few days. Marinette was definitely not a fan of the super high temperatures, which is why she looks exhausted when she flips the network feed on. ]

I know I shouldn't draw attention to it because it makes it worse, but this -heat- is awful. I've been helping the crafting guild making outfits, but I gotta tell you - it's hard to stay motivated with this weather.

I want to at least get two more outfits done before stopping though. Of course in addition to that I'm working on my own dress for the Midsummer Ball that Valdis announced a few days ago. I'm really kind of looking forward to that - [ Oh BOY is she. ]

So, who else is going?

[ Anyone she knows? Granted she didn't know a lot of pepole here yet, but she was gonna get her mingle on at the party, so that'd be resolved right quick. She was about to add an offer to make accessories for someone, but - no no, Marinette. She really needed to stop taking on so much extra. ... unless a friend mentions wanting something made. She still had to work on Adrien's shirts. GAH, so much to do so little time~! ]

[For her part, Midii didn't seem too put out by the heat. In that her thick hair was pulled back in a messy bun, the messy loose strands lightly blowing due to a fan position just off screen. Despite wearing a light tank top and shorts, there was still a thin sheen of sweat on her brow.]

I am. Mostly to help Valdis with the decorations beforehand. And maybe the food.

Cool, maybe I'll see you there! .. what kind of food are you making? [ She's just a tiny bit wary of the food here still, some of it was so weird! ]

Oh, I'm not really making anything myself. Just helping to set up. Make sure we have enough. [And then linger by the table like the good little wallflower she was.] My main responsibility is supposed to be the flowers.

[ Sorry, Marinette is just full of energy, despite the heat draining said energy out of her. Maybe she has two different reserves; one for work and one for socializing. She likes getting to know people with friendly questions. Frestions. ]

[Midii doesn't seem to mind the questions at all; were the situation reversed, she might have been asking just as many, if not more, herself.]

She knows I've been studying herbalism and am familiar with both the main gardens and a lot of other smaller ones around the city. [Here, though, she made a slight face.] Unfortunately, herbalism only teaches me how to use the flowers. Not how to decorate with them. I'm...not very good with that sort of thing.

Great! I find I'm a little partial to real flowers myself - thankfully I never got any allergies from flowers. Still it's neat that you're learning how to use them.

You know, not to brag or anything, but I've kind of got an eye for color and design - would you like some help?

I do. We met right around the time he first showed up. I remember being interested because he mentioned Paris.

[Much further north than her village, but a place she had always taken an interest in.]

There haven't been many other French citizens here, but most of the ones I've ever known seem to come from Paris or around there.

It was useful. Most of the better-off families were able to fish for their food. And farm with what little lands they had left.

I remember, when I was a little girl, I could run down the street to the local baker. She grew her own grains for flour. If she had extra macaroons from the day before, she'd let me and my brothers have one each. Just as long as we promised to be good.

[ The minute she hears his voice, two things happen. First, Marinette immediately rockets up from her slouch to sit properly -- a little too quickly because she also rocks backwards a little, the chair she's sitting in starting to tip and make her flail wildly. This is follow by a dull *THUD* as she bangs her knee under her desk in her attempt to keep from embarrassing herself further by steadying her tilt, and she quickly recovers, trying to project an air of 'cool and Ow my knee hurts, but I totally meant to do that. ]

H.. Hey Adrien. [ Relax, relax..! ]

Hotter than usual...? Terrific, that's just.. bad timing on my part I guess. Though if it gets really bad there's a lake around here isn't there? Or pool ... [ ... she stops mid sentence at that doofy smile, heat of another kind rushing into her cheeks. ]

Y..yeah, me too. I.. it sounds like it'll be a lot of fun. [ wait, what if she meets the other girl in Adrien's life, there? What if he's going with her? What if Marinette sees them dancing...? ............what if he asks MARINETTE to dance? Oh mercy..! ]

[ Oh my god. O M G. OH EM GEE. Marinette is so caught off guard by what she thought she heard that she can only stare at the nervous Adrien's face for a long moment, her mouth half open and forming a little 'o' in surprise. ]

O.. oh. Can you... hold on just... ONE second...?

[ She switches the feed off very briefly, so she can FREAKING LOSE HER MIND. SHRIEKING at the top of her lungs and it's a damn good thing Adrien wasn't in the apartment because that is SO UNCOOL Mari.

Freakout commencing in three... two...

"AAA TIKKI TIKKI TIKKI What do I do~?"
"Say YES, Marinette!" Honestly that is probably the most obvious of all answers to give. But now Tikki had the privelige of watching Marinette freak out about HOW to accept. Marinette scooted over to her mirror, took a few breaths and flashed a cocky smile, pointing at her reflection.

"You're in luck, Adrien, I'm free as the wind for that date!" .... nonono, that was too lame. Uh. "OH MY GOD Adrien I've been wanting you to ask me out for I DON't KNOW how long..!" Pause... "... nope, too desperate. WAY too desperate." hrmmm. "Oh, a date with me? Hrm. I guess I could do that..." .... ugh. "No way no way no way none of those work!"

"Here's a crazy idea - how about just being yourself?"
"NOW who's being crazy?" siggggh. It's her only option though. SO, a few minutes later the feed clicks on again with a calm Marinette smiling casually into the feed. ]

Sorry about that! I had to check on something important. Uh... but uh... yeah..! I'd... I'd like that. To go to the ball. With you. As a...you know...date.

[He honestly wasn't expecting her to just vanish, and for a moment, he thought he'd missteped - a feeling not helped by Plagg's condescending laughter somewhere inside his jacket.

Oh, if he could open his mind's eye and see Marinette's insane prep work for that answer. He'd find it adorable, of course, but he finds most of what she does adorable, so he's somewhat biased in this. He relaxes visibly when she comes back. ]

Oh, wow, really? [Obviously, really, Adrien, come on. His grin widens, deliriously happy. ] That's great! Thank you!

[Do you thank someone for agreeing to go on a date with you? He had no idea how this works.]
