[ It's been disgustingly hot the past few days. Marinette was definitely not a fan of the super high temperatures, which is why she looks exhausted when she flips the network feed on. ]

I know I shouldn't draw attention to it because it makes it worse, but this -heat- is awful. I've been helping the crafting guild making outfits, but I gotta tell you - it's hard to stay motivated with this weather.

I want to at least get two more outfits done before stopping though. Of course in addition to that I'm working on my own dress for the Midsummer Ball that Valdis announced a few days ago. I'm really kind of looking forward to that - [ Oh BOY is she. ]

So, who else is going?

[ Anyone she knows? Granted she didn't know a lot of pepole here yet, but she was gonna get her mingle on at the party, so that'd be resolved right quick. She was about to add an offer to make accessories for someone, but - no no, Marinette. She really needed to stop taking on so much extra. ... unless a friend mentions wanting something made. She still had to work on Adrien's shirts. GAH, so much to do so little time~! ]

[ She was one of the lucky ones then - well probably a lot of people were handling the heat better than Marinette was. ]

Cool, maybe I'll see you there! .. what kind of food are you making? [ She's just a tiny bit wary of the food here still, some of it was so weird! ]

[She'd never been too picky. Give her something edible--preferably on the sweet side--and she was happy.]

Oh, I'm not really making anything myself. Just helping to set up. Make sure we have enough. [And then linger by the table like the good little wallflower she was.] My main responsibility is supposed to be the flowers.

[She seemed a little more hesitant about the latter.]

The flowers? Real or artificial?

[ Sorry, Marinette is just full of energy, despite the heat draining said energy out of her. Maybe she has two different reserves; one for work and one for socializing. She likes getting to know people with friendly questions. Frestions. ]

[Midii doesn't seem to mind the questions at all; were the situation reversed, she might have been asking just as many, if not more, herself.]

Real.

She knows I've been studying herbalism and am familiar with both the main gardens and a lot of other smaller ones around the city. [Here, though, she made a slight face.] Unfortunately, herbalism only teaches me how to use the flowers. Not how to decorate with them. I'm...not very good with that sort of thing.

Great! I find I'm a little partial to real flowers myself - thankfully I never got any allergies from flowers. Still it's neat that you're learning how to use them.

You know, not to brag or anything, but I've kind of got an eye for color and design - would you like some help?

[ Offers Marinette who had told herself not TWO Minutes ago not to take on extra stuff. Ah well, she will be what she will be. ]

If you don't mind.

[She smiled sheepishly, with a nod of gratitude for the offer.]

I was actually thinking of asking Adrien for help at first, but if you think you might be able to...then I'd be very thankful for whatever you can do.

Not at all!

[ Oh oh, you said the "A" word. She pauses for a second, giving Midii a closer look. ]

O-oh...? You... know Adrien here, huh? [ Wait, maybe she means a different one? ] Adrien Agreste?

[ Either way she supposes it makes sense, since Adrien's been here for a long time. But now she's wondering if ... naah.. ]

[Well. That was certainly a reaction.]

I do. We met right around the time he first showed up. I remember being interested because he mentioned Paris.

[Much further north than her village, but a place she had always taken an interest in.]

There haven't been many other French citizens here, but most of the ones I've ever known seem to come from Paris or around there.

Oh, wow, s-so you've known him ...a really long time, I guess? Months?

[ Rein it in Marinette. Just because a pretty girl knows Adrien it doesn't mean the worst! ]

I haven't met anyone else from France here, yet. Where are you from?

[She had to stop and do the math in her head. Not the first time she wished she had a eidetic memory. What month had he even shown up in? It was...had it been winter? Or closer to spring?]

More than a year, I think. I'm not sure.

Midi-Pyrénées region. Near the oceanside.

Wow. That's a pretty long time. [ To be stuck away from home. ]

Ohhh, I've never been that far out, but wow, living near the ocean must be incredible..!

[Oh, just wait until she found out how long Midii had been here....]

It was useful. Most of the better-off families were able to fish for their food. And farm with what little lands they had left.

I remember, when I was a little girl, I could run down the street to the local baker. She grew her own grains for flour. If she had extra macaroons from the day before, she'd let me and my brothers have one each. Just as long as we promised to be good.

[ She assumed it was the same amount of time as Adrien! ]

Oh, you like Macaroons? Heh, that brings back memories.. My family runs a bakery, so ..sometimes I'd wake up to the smell of fresh made bagels or muffins. ... I'm kind of surprised I was able to resist eating everything under the roof, sometimes.

[Not even close]

Have you been to any of the bakeries here yet? I'm not sure how different the fruits they grow here might be different than where you're from--I've kind of gotten used to them over the years--but they're really good. Some of the bakers will actually mix the juices right into their dough.

[ ..that.. that's kind of distressing. ]

I went to one with my friend Pepper, when I first arrived here, actually. I never been to the ones where the juices are mixed in though. I'll have to go and see if I can find one.

[ After the first thing she tried to eat literally RAN OFF and is probably living in the sewers somewhere, she's not that keen on trying too many new things though. ]

You know, I don't think I ever said my name - I know you know Adrien, but I don't know if you ever met me when I was here before. As...weird a statement that is. My name is Marinette. Hi.

[Ah, that answered a huge question Midii had been weighing back and forth whether or not to ask.]

Oh, good. He did tell you.

[That she'd been here before. In fact, Midii seemed that much more relieved that she didn't have to dance around the subject; she knew how...er...close Adrien was to Marinette and she didn't want to risk getting the poor boy in any trouble if it seemed like he was keeping something like that from her.]

Yes, we've met before. A couple times. That's how I know you and Adrien are from the same world.

Tell me? .. Oh! Yeah, he.. it's actually the first thing he told me when I first got here. It's... still a little strange to me, to tell the truth. But at least no one's come up to me on the street and immediately started talking to me like they knew me. Thaat would be a little bit creepy.

[ So she's glad that Midii didn't do that. ]

It's nice to meet you, Midii. Er.. Again.

[Spoken not without a hint of humor. Because she was well aware of how ridiculous the situation was. To have to reintroduce herself for the first time. Over and over.]

I think most people are aware enough to make sure, just in case. We do slip sometimes, of course, because there is always a chance someone can come back and remember when they were here before. It happened to a friend of mine not too long ago.

I wish it had happened for me too. [ But she wasn't going to focus on that - she was here, she remembered none of what happened and nothing was going to change that. She just had to have faith that people wouldn't lie to her about stuff that happened in the past. ]

So, how early are you supposed to set up decorations for the ball?

[ Surely she was going to be given at least a day or two to set things up right? ]

She said we were going to start the night before. Maybe a little earlier than that, but I would imagine the location is being used for other things, so we probably can't start too early.

Probably. But that's a lot better than a few hours beforehand. Since you work with herbs and stuff, are you providing the flowers yourself or did you order them from a flower shop or something?

[She shook her head.]

Oh, I wouldn't even know where to begin if I had to pick them all from the gardens myself. She did say those were the ones she had in mind, but I know I've seen similar ones being sold before. It'll be challenging enough figuring out which ones to order from the flower shop, but at least I can see what they look like on display there.

[ She giggles faintly. ]

That many, huh? I think it's a good idea, going to see what the flowers look like in person too. I think their fragrance is an important element as well.

[Her eyes widened.]

I...hadn't thought of that.

[Not that she didn't knew flowers had different scents to them. And that some smelled nicer than others. She simply hadn't realized that the mixture of those nicer scents might make a difference when arranged together.]

...I don't suppose you'd be willing to come with me to the flower shop?

[She had offered her help, after all. So long as it wasn't too much of an imposition on her time.]

[ Even if it was an imposition, Marinette would agree to help out! ]

Of course! I did offer to help you after all. When do you want to go?
