[Midii's lips were pursed together in concentration when the screen turned on, eyes turned downward. The tip of a writing utensil could be seen moving as she jotted down one last note before looking up.]

Something was brought to my attention recently. I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner, but it could be really important.

Allergies.

Is there anyone here who has them? Of things from home, or maybe of something you've realized you're allergic to here. Plants...food...metals...I'm curious to know.

[She actually paused in thought this time, taking a moment to flip back a few pages and skim her notes to be sure.]

How dizzy?

Like passing out and hitting my head dizzy. That dizzy.

[ Things would have been worse if she hadn't been caught by someone. ]

[Her lips pressed together in a thin line, eyes continuing to scan her pages.]

Any other symptoms around the same time? Shortness of Breath? Tightening of the Throat or Chest?

[ Sheena shakes her head. ]

Nope. Just the dizziness. It was an experimental drug.

[ She had been trying to help a friend. ]

Then it's...less likely to be an allergy, specifically, but I still wouldn't recommend taking it again if it's going to cause a reaction like that.

Well, I doubt there'd be any chance of that happening. This had happened somewhere else, and that person isn't here. But, I'm curious.

Why the questions on allergies?

It's part of my studies. I'm learning herbalism.

Ah. Was that something you were studying back home, too? Or is Raine having you learn it here?

[She shook her head. For both questions.]

No. The only thing I ever studied outside of reading and math was espionage.

[...or, at least, a simplistic version that could be pulled off by an 11 year old with minimal training and a lot of prayer.]

And I'm not studying under Raine. Suhiet is the one who's been teaching me.

[ Sheena's brows shoot up slightly. ]

So, you gathered information, too, huh? [ She no longer assumes that everyone who does is a ninja. ] Our village had a pretty big network for the King.

[ Nooot even going to touch on school subjects. She hated studying. ]

Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't realize that! I thought as the head of the Guild, Raine was also teaching like she did back home. Though, I guess she really wouldn't have time.

Is Suhiet good?

[It was a good non-assumption; Midii was definitely not a ninja. Merely quiet.]

No, it's alright. She could still be teaching. I'm not sure about that. I don't see her much. Mostly because our paths don't cross that often, even at the Guild.

[They were both busy bees.]

She is. She knows a lot and explains things well. She's also not afraid to tell me when I've gotten something wrong, and how to fix it.

[ A good trait for a ninja, so far she ever wants to change jobs... ]

Ironically, I don't see too much of her, either. [ And they live together. ] Maybe I should do something about that.

And it sounds like Suhiet knows her stuff. Wait. Isn't she Raine's advisor or assistant?

[ She may have spoken to her about the herbs before. ]

She might be. They do both work at the Guild.

You'd have to ask Raine.

[ She tilts her head slightly. ]

You don't know? [ Her voice become gentle. ] Do you study all the time, Midii?

No.

[...although the response came out a little hesitant, especially when she realized she could only add:]

I still have a part-time job. So I do get to travel around the city running errands and seeing people.

[Better than being completely isolated, of course.]

[ Sheena had heard that hesitation, Midii. ]

Well, that's good. Because too much studying isn't good. [ So says the person who hates studying. ]

So what do you do in your free time?

[ Because she's got to have some free time, right? ]

[She makes a point of scheduling it in.]

I go to the park. And I've been trying more baking recipes lately.

[ Scheduled or not, as long as she has it. Sheena knows from experience that breaks are necessary.

She perks up at the mention of baking. ]

Really? What recipes have you tried?

Different kinds of breads and pastries, mostly.

I'm not that good, so I do try to stick with simple ingredients. Things that I can pick from the gardens.

[ She pauses. ]

Do you want to try something else? I'm not talking sea prunes, because I don't think anything can save them... But if you do, I can help.
