[Victor looks a little annoyed when he turns on his console tonight. Behind him, the view of his suite is blocked by some rock. A big, talking rock to be exact. Santo's right there behind him.]

Hey, everyone. I've got a question for everyone that's familiar with superheroes. It's about the costumes. They're an important thing to have, right? For a lot of reasons like protecting and hiding secret identities.

But this guy [He jerks a thumb over his shoulder at Santo.] just says they're stupid.

Don't get me wrong, the costumes are cool but that's about it. Wearing one just to hide your identity is what's stupid. You don't see Ms. Marvel, Iron Man, or Hawkeye worried about people knowing who they are. Hell, Luke Cage doesn't even wear a costume and he kicks all kinds of ass!

Besides, you don't see any X-Men hiding behind a mask.

[Victor just rolls his eyes.]

Lots of X-Men have worn masks. [He shakes his head.] So what do you guys think? Costumes important for superheroes or not?

The answer is obviously not.

[Victor doesn't even bother replying. He just gives Santo a look.]

I mentioned that but it didn't seem to get through to him. [Vic just gives a 'see what I live with?' look.] You're right though. One thing that makes costumes important is recognition.

Ms. Marvel too.

I don't see how secret identities are bad, either. I don't have one 'cause anybody trying to use my family to get to me is in for a rude awakening [lol namor] but that's not the case for a lot of people.

[She shakes her head.]

The original X-Men all wore masks, and for good reason.

They aren't bad, really. After some of the things that have happened, I can definitely see why some heroes use them.

All five except for Iceman. He just wore boots and shorts. But he did the snowman thing so it sort of counts. And Santo should know this, we've both worn costumes the older X-men used to wear. [Because the Danger Cave was funny that way.]

[Nita laughs.]

I think if you shapeshift into a form that doesn't look like you when you fight, that's basically a mask.

That's true. It doesn't always count as a costume though.

Is there a handbook for this? Do they give it to you at mutant school?

[She never went to mutant school.]

No but you can find one the superhero fans made online.

[He's half serious about this.]

You'd probably have more luck finding it on someone's blog or a message board.

[Blogs she knows about! Message boards actually existed before her confusing time travel incident, so she doesn't need that one explained.]

I'm not sure I want to know what random people think about my fashion sense.

I can understand that. I don't think you have anything to worry about though. You look good.

Favrielle's a really great designer. If I were back home I would just hire her for everything.

We've got some fashion designers back home too you could probably get to do stuff for you.

Oh, I do. [And the results are terrifying.] But I really like Favrielle.

You do? I don't think I've actually met Favrielle yet.

You haven't? Man, I gotta throw that pool party I keep talking about.

No but I've heard of her and seen her work.

[He smiles.] If you need a hand setting up that party, I could try to help out.

I will totally let you know, but I'm gonna clear it with the other people in my building first.
