[Nita is looking inordinately pleased with herself--she's figured out CC and how to use it with encryption.

Cap! ...Is it okay if I call you that? Ms. Potts said she didn't and I realized that maybe you don't go by that in your universe.

[Tangent.]

Anyway, I have some people I wanted to introduce you to. This is Vic and Kyle. Vic's a mutant from my timeline--he's with the X-Men and he's never met the Cap from our universe--and Kyle's an artist from a different timeline.

They're cool.

[Vic just smiles and offers a little wave himself.]

[He's gotten far too used to the locals to even bat an eye at Vic's appearance.]

Forgive me if this is an obvious question, but who are the X-Men?

[Victor's glad there's no bad reactions to his being all green and spiky.]

It's a group of superheroes. Mostly mutants and we help protect mutants and humans alike.

How common are mutants? I ask because they've never... well, never come up, where I'm from. [THANKS A LOT FOX.]

We're...not nearly as common as we used to be. [He gives a little sigh.] There might not be mutants in your world. Or they could be hiding still. Mutants were secret from the majority of the world for a long time where I come from.

[He'll have to ask Nita about that - it's clearly, at the very least, a sore subject. He doesn't have to ask why mutants kept (or are keeping) themselves secret.] I see. What brought you into the open?

[Victor's appearance notwithstanding.]

Well, the hiding ended behind my time. There got to be too many mutants to hide and groups like the Brotherhood trying to cause all sorts of trouble in the name of mutant supremacy were happy to make mutants known to all.

[He grimaces.] I'm sorry to hear that - sorry to hear that conflict was the cause, at least.

[Nita's aware you can make some codes harder to crack than others. It's just that nobody's pointed out to her this is a thing that might be relevant on a computer network. Comin' atcha straight from 1992!]

Everybody calls you Cap where I'm from. ...Except Namor.

"Captain" or "Steven" or "Rogers."

[Depends how annoyed with Cap he is at the time.]

He's pretty formal.

[When Kyle's feed flicks on, his face is entirely too close to the screen, but he manages to back off a little and stare at it quizzically before he gives a small wave.] Uh - hi. I'm Kyle. Kyle Rayner. I just got here.

Yeah, freelance. I used to work for a magazine in NYC.

Oh yeah? [He's about to ask which one before he realizes he probably won't know the name anyway, but still.] Which one? I never got quite that far.

Feast. [Slightly embarrassed:] Well, we are from different timelines so it might not exist at all where you're from.

[And an awkward pause when the second part of that sentence hits him-] Are you looking to start selling your work?

[Part of him is worried. Kyle's an artist for hire - he draws to make himself or his clients happy; he hated having to argue with snobs. Not that Steve seems like a snob, but then again, people would say Lantern Ch'p didn't seem terribly threatening.]

That's a food magazine, right?

Oh, no, I wasn't planning on it. Maybe once, but if I did now I'd have to use a pseudonym or something. Why?

Actually, no. [He chuckles.] I kept telling my boss to change the name.

[Then-] You said you 'never quite got that far' - I thought you were referring to wanting to do it as a living.
