[video] SHIT, ZOMBIES
[Nita is sopping wet, and, unusually for her, breathing heavily. She pushed herself hard getting back to the city from the barrier so she could warn people.]
Okay, I don't want to freak anyone out-- [she herself is clearly freaked out, or at least unsettled] --but all those corpses floating around in the water? They're moving now, and they're not friendly.
[She stands up to emphasize that the outfit she's wearing has been ripped to (somehow miraculously Comics Code-acceptable) shreds. Sorry, Favrielle.]
They're not all that good in the water, but they're fast and strong and they bite really hard. And they keep going even after they've had their heads torn off. [...She overreacted, okay.]
It looks like the barrier is keeping them out, but stay out of the water.

[He nods.] Well, at least they're around even if they aren't royals.
It does kind of seem that way, not that I know a lot about it.

[COMIC BOOK PROBLEMS]
Okay, so? Before the 1972 Olympics, I thought it was going to be gladiatorial combat. Betty had to explain what "the games" meant to me on the surface.
[And then the Munich massacre happened, oops.]
[action]
So there's gladiator combat down in Atlantis still?
[action]
Namor doesn't like it because everyone's too afraid to actually hit him, plus they usually go out and capture a sea monster with one fin in the grave because historically it's less likely to result in a dead king that way, so he basically sees it as a wasted day.
[She laughs.]
I offered to get in the ring and hit Namor as hard as I could, but he just harrumped at me.
[action]
Maybe he was afraid you'd kick his butt.
[action]
[She slams a fist into her other hand and scowls in imitation of the Thing. There are probably people who look less like him than Nita, but it'd be a short list.]
Namor...the worst he'll do is snap at you. You're not one of his subjects.
[Nita is aware her cousin is a Big Touchy Jerk, but she still loves him.]
[action]
It's clobberin' time? The Thing is one of those heroes I've always wanted to meet but never have.
I dunno, I've seen him get punchy with non-subjects before.
[action]
[They go way back. Nita used to babysit Franklin. Plus her cousin keeps almost destroying Reed and Sue's marriage!
She sighs at Vic's misunderstanding of Namor's behavior.]
It's a matter of honor. He joined your team, so it would be seriously dishonorable for him to hit you or any of the X-Men without severe provocation. Plus, you're not an adult yet. Atlantis has "pick on someone your own size" rules, too.
...Bets are off if you hit first. He'd probably just backhand you into a wall, though.
[action]
[Victor listens quietly, curious about why Nita sighed. He just offers an apologetic look as Nita goes in.]
Like I said, I'll skip hitting him unless it's during one of those 'mind controlled teammate is attacking' things.
[action]
[She was in a New Mutants annual in the 80s!]
It's just--sorry. He's always been touchy about the surface, and I have no idea why he'd join the X-Men.
[action]
It's okay. I'm sorry. I don't know the exact reasons but I'm pretty sure he ended up joining because of Osborn taking over and Ms. Frost asking him.
[action]
[She shakes her head. Emma is not one of her favorite people. She is, however, too loyal to say what she thinks of Namor's taste in women.]
I wish I knew what destroyed Atlantis. I time-traveled, did Santo tell you? One day everything was fine, and the next I was dead and it was like the world had gone crazy. And no one here knows what happened.
[action]
He didn't actually. [Vic's surprised.] Wow...that has definitely got to be a shock.
[action]
Yeah, uh. I'm from before Stamford. Way before.
[Meaning she arrived in the present and discovered the world was mad at her over Civil War.]
[action]
Man...that'd make things even worse. Sorry that you had to deal with that time travel headache.
[action]
[Nita is coping more by repression than any actual healthy method.]
Besides, we're here now, which is a whole 'nother problem.
[action]
[He nods, letting out a sigh.]
Yeah, this place is a whole lot of problems. I wonder what other stuff like this underwater trip we can expect and whether or not the Kedan know about it and just aren't telling us.
