So, um. Some of you know I - went to the mines. In the mountains. Got back yesterday.

Didn't...find much. Carts, that they used. [The smile fades.] And...bodies. That were just...left there. [She'd considered bringing them back, even if she had to do it one at a time, but she didn't know if that would be...disrespectful.]

Looked like - they fell, usually. Didn't see any, um. Foul play.

[A beat.]

That's it. ...What - did I miss?

So probably not within the last year, then? Could be that burial practices were different then . . . Though in my experiences, it's usually a massacre or a curse that has people running out without dealing with their dead.

[Cass shakes her head.] Not murder. Or - doesn't look like it. [And then she hesitates. Should she know that? Bruce Wayne's daughter? This identity stuff is so complicated.]

Yeah! Mostly. Look, demons are tenacious where I'm from. Most of the time you don't banish them, you just have to find a way to stop letting them in. Every terrible thing is always still there, just out of sight, and that's the way it is.

Don't know much - about demons. But... [A slight shrug.] That's...the way the world is. [She doesn't sound despondent, really; there's a determined sort of sadness to her gaze. All it means is that they can never stop fighting.]
