[Given the others' reaction to his explanation of having a vessel, Cas is a little reluctant to go through it again with this guy, but it's not like it's not just out there for him to read. Apparently anybody can read that business, as Dean so helpfully pointed out to him.]

[He's seen plenty of monsters and demons and other things masquerading as human before. So why not an angel? If that's what this guy really is.]

So do you guys really look like glowing guys with wings, or is that just in stories?

The glowing is an understatement. The wings are an approximation. [Mostly they just make shadows of them since that's what people expect to see, but yeah, they can make wing shapes if they want.]

What about you? Does your appearance fit in with the human understanding of it?

You know I'm not--[Not what he looks like. He used to be so sure. But over the last few years, he's seen some things that have made him feel a lot less human than he once was.

Having people to support you is apparently essential to a happy existence. [Cas is only just really finding this out.]

[No, he knows he got lucky. If the Professor hadn't taken him in, who knows what his life would've been like. His life at the Bureau meant everything to him. And the longer he stays trapped here, the more he regrets leaving it all behind.

He needed some time off, yeah. And if he hadn't gone to Africa, he knows the same old mysteries would've kept eating at him. But looking back, he was happier just not knowing.]

So, if you don't mind me asking... Why disguise yourself as human? Or is that just something you guys do.

[Well that's... really not all that surprising. But Hellboy's very glad he did. It's always a pain in the ass when they already know his name. Because knowing his name usually means they know a hell of a lot else about him he'd rather keep private.]

Fight monsters, mostly. Government work.

[Or at least he used to. But he's not gonna mention that. No point in turning over that stone.]
