001 - Video

[refusing]

[She's been here quite a few hours now, and has had time to laugh off just about everything she's been told, although she's not trying to mock or anything. She's just not entirely sold on any of this, and isn't sure what to make out of it. So it's time to just roll with the punches and take things one hour at a time, to meet new people and maybe get in a few laughs.

Currently, she's writing down a list of things that she eventually turns and holds out to be seen. There's only a few words written down, and one is lightly crossed out

Slitheen

Dalek

Satan

She says both of the non-marked through words as she points to them, and then glances back at her audience with eyebrows arched.]

Anyone here heard of 'em before?

[Yeah, they're all on her list of potential beings that could have gotten her off course, but really she's just hoping to find someone out there that has a common thread they can talk about. She isn't sure that any of the natives know what she's talking about though, and who knows about the rest of them. The list is set aside carefully, and she spends a moment staring over at it. She sighs then, and leans in. She's much more serious now, and looks entirely lost.]

Sorry. Don't really have a knack for using these things yet. Thing is, I'm looking for someone, thought that maybe he might be here? Goes by the Doctor, always going on 'bout things nobody understands? But I do, most of the time anyway, and -

[Nope, keep those emotions in Rose. Keep 'em in. A hand goes up to her mouth, her fingers curling up against her lips as she becomes increasingly more worked up over all this. Everything's hitting her all at once.]

I've gotta find him, if he's here. He's hopeless when he's out there all on his own.

Just keep in mind that, while everyone will understand what you say, writing's a bit complicated. Everybody reads only the languages they can read.

[She's so used to the TARDIS just translating everything that she's forgotten it even does it, which causes her to stop and stare in confusion for a moment.]

Oh. Right, got it, thanks.

[She nods a little, smiling through her embarrassment.]

But you could read it then, yeah?

Weeeell. I do happen to be literate in English. Shockingly, to some of my schoolteachers.

That means you're from Earth, then!

[This is said with a relative level of joy, although she realizes there are alternative universes and parallel worlds, and that whole mess of things. She realizes she's being presumptive, but hey. She's earned it, after waking up in a strange place all alone.]

I'm from London, myself.

Are those English words? Not everyone will read it, and I am afraid I haven't seen them before.

[But he brightens at her second question.]

Yes, I've spoken with the Doctor- if you mean the one who doesn't seem to have another name. I have not seen him recently, but I think he is still here.

Alien names, more like. Guess they're English enough, though. The letters, I mean.

[She muses that over for a moment, before just laughing it off and giving a shrug. Her idea was absolute rubbish.

But ah! Someone that knows the Doctor. Figures he's out making friends.]

Sounds like my Doctor. Can't be more than one of 'em that go by that. Um -

Where's the last place y'saw him? And by recently, you mean...?

Ah, names. That would make sense. They do not seem to have an English sound to them.

[He shrugs.]

It has been nigh two months, I think, since we spoke over these consoles. I am sure there are others who have more recent information- and it is likely he will see your message himself.

[ Rose Tyler. Brave, beautiful, gone. This Rose, the one who obviously knows him, who is looking for him, even, isn't one he thought he would ever see again.

She shouldn't be here, he thinks to himself. She should be with her family, with the Doctor who can treat her as she deserves to be treated, who can give her everything she ought to have.

This is too cruel, for the both of them. "Pity the man with two," he once said. Twice the heart; twice the heartbreak, after all. It's written on his face, scrawled across his wide eyes and etched into his deep frown. For once, he is glad to be alone. It gives him the minute he needs to compose himself, to lock away the bitter part of bittersweet.

Mustering his biggest, brightest grin, he replies to her post. ]

I've always found the word 'hopeless' unnecessarily harsh.

[That earns a squint, and a long, hard stare. She thinks that's the most nitpicky thing to comment on, and a rude way of starting a conversation. Or maybe not rude necessarily, but aloof and awkward and she's not good with starting a conversation with either of those things. He gets a small dose of her fire, just enough to show that she most certainly isn't amused.]

Of all the things I said, you're really gonna pick up on that?

[But since it's not really a horrible offense at all, she can only laugh at herself. Ducking her head she smiles, hair falling in her face.]

No comment on the alien names, no idea where my Doctor is?

[She raises her head, revealing arched eyebrows and all kinds of curiosity written on her face.]

Oh, I've plenty to say about all that. Satan's rubbish. The Daleks, too, ever exterminating, never building. Although the Slitheen aren't friendly in general, I know one who deserves the benefit of the doubt. None of them are here, no, and had nothing to do with anyone's disappearance this time.

[ It's her. It's really her. The fire, the my Doctor. Oh, Rose. ]

Rose Tyler, I think we'd be better off speaking in person, don't you?

Excuse me. Our voices translate, but the written words don't. I can't read what you wrote.

Ah, right. Sorry 'bout that. [She gives an apologetic smile, and reaches up to rub at her forehead.]

It just says Slitheen and Dalek, but no one here's heard of them, I reckon.

It's alright! Most people here seem to speak English. I'm still learning. [ And it's not going terribly well. Sounding out words is kind of a failure. ]

I haven't heard of them. But there are several doctors. I'm not sure which one you're looking for?

[ Pardon while Wally squints at that last one, making it out since it is lightly crossed. Is that supposed to be a joke? ]

Heard of that last crossed out one. I don't think we have to worry about a fairy tale being responsible for bringing us here. [ Because even if he can admit belief in something that people call magic, that's pushing the line really far. ]

[She picks up the list and looks at it, and is completely serious when she responds.]

No, really. He's not a fairy tale, or just mythology, or any of that. I didn't wanna believe it either, but it's true. Out there somewhere in the universe, where nobody ever thought t'look, there was the devil.

[ He gives a flat look for about five seconds; long time for him. At least he's not pretending to believe for a pretty girl like he might have done a couple of months ago. ]

Ooo-kay. So the devil's somewhere in outer space. Sure it's not something like a Lord of Chaos trying to trick you? [ Cause when he thinks about Klarion, he thinks that kid'd be a dead ringer for a demon or something. ]

Why'd you cross out Satan?

Dunno, actually.

[She takes a minute to think that one over.]

Guess I just figured he couldn't be the one responsible for all this.

The turtle thing does seem more zen than Abrahamic, yeah.

Never heard of them before. [Finnick smiles at her.] But I have spoken once with someone who called themselves 'the Doctor'. It doesn't seem like the kind of name a lot of people would go by, so maybe he's the one you're looking for.

[Another good looking, charming guy. This place is just filled with them. He gets a smile in return, a nice big one since he got right to giving her good information.]

Heard he might be lurking about somewhere. Seems like people've talked to him once or twice but he doesn't stick around for more.

[Doesn't surprise her to heard that.]

How long ago was it? That you talked t'him?

[The big smile in return tugs a grin out of him. So many people here seem so immune to smiling.] Is that how he usually is?

[:|a] Maybe about a month and a half ago, when he first arrived on Tu Vishan.

You've got no idea.

[Said so very dryly. But hey, maybe he does have some idea, so he gets a sympathetic smile, one that two people who understand what trouble magnets are like. Not that she is ever one herself, no. Not at all!]

I think most everything will just come to me with time. [Everyone here is so nice, she can't get over it.]

Then again, I think I might start taking applications for tour guide here soon. I go out on my own and just end up all turned around.

[He's one too, on a good day, and he sees that in her.]

It will, yeah. Don't worry about it. [She seems to be adjusting pretty well which is... good.] I'm sure a lovely lady like yourself can easily find somebody to show you around.
