002 Audio - The One Where Mike Tries To Barter

So...okay. Here's the thing. I can live frugal. I'm good at living frugal. There are fewer people out there who can dumpster dive as efficiently as I can. Trust me, my stone soup? Is amazing. I can make a Reclaimed Tuna Casserole Surprise that will knock your socks off.

As awesome as I am, even I can't make something from literally nothing, which is kind of what I've got at the moment. I say kind of because I have a whole bunch of little pots of home-made Floating Fruit preserves, jams, and jellies, and now that I'm officially out of money, I'm looking to trade them for...anything edible that isn't floating fruit. I've had my fill, thanks.

So, anyone out there interesting in jam for say...chocolate?
Or jam for bread?
Or jam for...seriously, anything.

[ Jack snorts, sweeping into a pretty grand bow. ]

Oh great and masterful Jam Overlord, please share your prowess over pickled preserves with the rest of us poor folk.

[Mike elongates his neck and tilts his head up slightly, the better to look down on Jack, don'cha know.]

[ Meanwhile while Mike's nose is up, little tendrils of frost are creeping their way across the floor that is probably going to get very chilly on turtle toes in 3... 2... ]

[Mike doesn't notice the temperature shift at first, being poly-thermic will do that to a guy, but when he does a look of confusion washes over his face.

He flexes his toes and then rolls his foot at the ankle.

[ Jack starts snickering. ]

Not getting cold feet, are you?

[He misses the laugh, but the pun that follows...that he catches.]

Is this...that's you? With the cold, that's you? Dude, NOT cool.

[The second that last bit leaves his mouth he very clearly regrets it.]

[ Jack just laughs outright this time. ]

Of course it's me. And it's totally cool.

[Mike buries his face in his hands.]

Fine fine, I deserve that. I admit it. But...hello, mostly coldblooded turtle over here. It's mean to mess the temperature.

[ Jack lets the frost dissolve into nothingness again. ]

Don't worry, I'll be careful. One of my best friends here, Victor, he doesn't do well in cold either.

[ a grin ]

Preeetty much, yeah. I mean...after all there' a couple billion of you folks back home, but I'm an endangered species.

Oh, I don't think there's that many spirits. Couple thousand at most.
